I just wish we would have been told the night before that I would be unable to extend my stay instead of at 7:30 AM after I'd been drinking all night. My partner and I stayed there for five days because the boiler is broken at our $1200/month apartment around the corner. We chose our accommodations simply based on distance to our home because we both work full time and wanted to be able to check on our apartment and grab clothes for work. We re-extended a couple times and I feel as if we should have had a warning at least, having payments cleared for five nights, which comes out to over $600, not including tax. I have no issue with the nice counter person, as he was under the direction of management to tell me that I would have to talk to Justin in the morning if I wanted to extend our stay.
So I happened to stay up all night drinking because I didn't have to work the next day. I'm an established middle-aged woman with my bills paid and there will be no justification needed for what I do with my nights off unless I am committing crimes, which I did not. So I went to talk to Justin and he said he was so sorry, but some bar association thing is happening and they only have 23 rooms to rent and they need them all.
Why couldn't I have been told this before I stayed up drinking all night? Only 23 rooms and you can't just be forthright about it to avoid talking to drunk customers at 7:30 in the morning? The whole incident could have been avoided with even cursory customer service courtesy. I made sure to use proper respectful language during my interaction with Justin even though I was reasonably irate and intoxicated. I made no threats or personal attacks and this kid had the gall to say I was being rude.
It was rude not to provide me with information that would have had me sleeping the night before to be ready to move out, and sorry Justin, but it was a respectful interaction considering the circumstances. Again, I used polite language and made no personal attacks or threats. You resorted to calling me rude because you knew that you were in the wrong and wanted to be done with it but again, I was not rude. I was responding to having been rude to, and you were trying to gaslight me. I have been working in management roles for several years and am always sure to keep customers and clients apprised of situations that may inconvenience them. I take great pains not to pull the rug out from under paying customers. It's not good business.
I made sure that the room was as easy as possible to clean up for housekeeping and left a tip because I am a decent adult and I'm not going to penalize them for their manager's poor customer relations.
Take this as professional advice, Justin: Next time you have the opportunity to be better to your customers, seize it with both arms and just, yknow, be better to your customers. Surefire way not to deal with surprised drunk at 7:30 in the morning is to be honest the niht before. If your counter staff could have just said 'actually, no, we're booked tomorrow' instead of 'Justin needs to do all extensions in the morning' he whole thing would have been avoided and I did not need to deal with that stress while I have no...
Read moreAs someone that was unfortunately a tenant at this building I cannot recommend it as a hotel or apartment. The building owners use the historical status of the building to not make any improvements, including adding any sort of wheelchair accessible ramp. It's has also massively gone downhill over the past couple years. As a guest you'll have to deal with some of the "interesting" tenants as well as everything that comes with an apartment building. You'll also be stuck with heavily outdated and minimal "amenities", and the parking is pretty awful. My car got more damage in that parking lot than street parking for years. As a tenant, avoid this place like the plague. There are multiple things in the lease of questionable legality, they will charge a mandatory cleaning fee upon move out but you'll move into a disgusting apartment. When I moved in I had to spend almost a full day cleaning so not sure what they are using that 100$ for, my apartment was maybe poorly swept prior to move in. I had to clean everything in the "kitchen"(it was literally a hallway with the smallest most outdated appliances) because every surface was sticky with grease from prior tenants. Massive build ups of dust around heaters and door frames, mold in the bathroom. Like, legitimately disgusting, but when shown to us we were told it would be cleaned as the previous tenant still lived there. They will charge you for normal wear and tear items that NYS does not actually allow you to charge for, but they are fully aware and don't care because of how tedious the small claims court process is for tenants. When you move out, be prepared to be turned into a zoo exhibit. They have 0 respect for you as a tenant and will have multiple groups of people in your apartment every day of the week, and weekend if you don't actually stand up to them. All of this for one of the most unpleasant apartments to ever live in. You have 0 control over the heat because the radiators don't work, 57 layers of paint on the wall, 2 of the world's smallest closets, and they are even so generous to include free parking in their lot where your car will get dinged and hit by everything imaginable. The ONLY thing this building has going for it is the location, which is admittedly great. However for what they are charging, living in a literal shoebox isn't worth it. They also slapped an indefinite annual percentage increase on rent, but never made a single improvement to the building my entire time living there. Oh and be prepared for the elevators to work maybe half the time. My favorite thing was when the property manager thought LED lights were more of a fire hazard and used more electricity than incandescent bulbs then accused me of growing weed because I had the audacity to have a few philodendrons. Just do yourself a favor and don't live here, and I wouldn't recommend staying here unless it's...
Read moreTerrible experience! My fiance and I stood valentine's weekend at the Lennox and we're abruptly awakened at 3 a.m to non stop arguing by a neighboring room. After about 15 minutes of waiting for it to be over I called the main desk he assured me he would take care of it. 10 minutes later my fiance and I heard him ask the occupants of the room to keep quiet and they did... for all of 2 minutes. The arguing ensued but had gotten worse we had heard thing's being thrown in the room and what sounded like a physical confrontation. I again called the main desk only to be told that he couldn't do anything about it. At that point we had enough I had knocked on the door to ask them to keep quiet a young lesbian couple answered the door one with a bloody mouth and became argumentative with me and my fiancé. We returned to our room to avoid a confrontation and decided to notify in person the employee at the front desk of the situation and of our displeasure. At this point it is 330 a.m and the lennox employee has no interest in the fact that he has two unhappy customers in front of him and cares not that another customer is being assaulted on the 8th floor he only says "there's nothing I can do" my fiance and I were disgusted and decided enough was enough packed our bags and asked for a full refund which was also denied to us l, instead he gave us the names of two "managers (Suzy & Molly) he told us that we would receive a full refund the following in the morning. I returned on Valentine's day to the Lennox and was greeted by Suzy herself. I had explained the situation to her and she notified me that all though she had been there a long time she could not authorize a refund to me, she said only Molly could. She then assured me that if I return the following day 9 am that hotel manager molly would be in and that she would make things right and give me a full refund. So at 930am I again returned to the Lennox and again Suzy was at the desk, she then told me that molly was at a meeting and she did not know when she would return, I thought nothing of it and decided to wait in the main lobby for molly's arrival. Minutes later Suzy called Mr to the desk and told me that molly had called to tell her she WOULD NOT REFUND the amount of our nights stay despite being told several times that we would be refunded. She then had the audacity to offer me a "discounted" nights stay in the hotel.
While it is your decision to stay in such a careless facility with the worst management I have ever seen I certainly would like anyone reading this to think. "What if it was me" who was put through this on Valentine's day or any day for that matter. Or even worse imagine if it was you in the hotel room being assaulted while the hotel staff was notified and decided not to do anything about it. What if...
