I've just started writing reviews because the service industry in Buffalo is getting out of hand. I really feel conflicted but it's not going to get better if we don't say something.
Today I drove over to the Public Espresso Seneca location and there was a note on the door saying that it's closed. No social media post. Nothing. That is the absolute bare minimum when you suddenly close a business for the day.
I was already on the fence because of my next point: This Seneca st. location is always filthy. The tables are often messy even when it's slow and the floor looks like it has quite literally never been cleaned. They need to get an overnight crew to deep clean that place. I'm starting to think that having this self-service stuff at fancy cafes causes baristas to forget to wipe down the tables. What am I tipping like 30%+ on coffee orders for if I have to clean everything up too?
There are some nice staff members there for sure. Although I've had many orders come out as a completely different order several times when I was the only person there. Maybe the items are listed wrong in the ordering system. The whole service industry is like that in WNY unfortunately.
The food is pretty decent. It's not super consistent but the baked items are really tasty. The prices are high but that's pretty typical for third-wave...
Read moreCute Cafe on Seneca St in Buffalo. We were in town for a wedding and the morning after decided to grab breakfast on our way home. Decided to try this place. The food is good....delicious bagels and donuts! So much so my husband, and two other friends went to stand back in line to buy donuts and bagels to bring home. Bagels are made fresh daily. Took two stars off as the seats were VERY dirty. It seems like they have never been cleaned. The tables were fine...it was the seating that was very dirty. Also, service is meh. I ordered a medium pumpkin spice latte and my husband ordered a coffee with cream. We waited over 20 minutes for it. 4 of my friends who ordered the exact same thing behind us got their drinks first...and well ahead of us. We only got ours as we asked the server who was bringing out our breakfast why we hadn't received our drinks yet. He went back to the barista who snapped at him and then she made ours. Not a good experience. Parking was ok because we found a spot, but can see how it would be difficult during the week or...
Read moreI visit my family in Buffalo oftern and I'd love to be able to patronize this great coffee shop more, but their limited hours of business makes it difficult. For early risers, 8 AM is too late to wait for coffee, and they’re closed by 2pm and not open at all on Mondays. Perhaps most unacceptable is the the attitude of some of the staff. I see the same complaint in other reviews and they seem to be describing the same girl. She appears pained and positively bothered by the fact that she has to be there and hasn't the slightest interest in appearing helpful. She is impatient, rude, and consistently annoyed at the simplest of questions. Many visits - same attitude. It is incredibly unwelcoming. There is a young man who is the exact opposite and I applaud him for his efforts. Though I'm closer to the Shea's Seneca location, I often drive downtown as the staff is far...
