Updated 3 19 24 2 nite stay. We booked our suite over a month in advance and paid in advance for a better price as members. We have stayed here in this room on different floors in the past and have loved it. But this stay was not as good. Google hasn't let me update. Upon arrival check in for this visit went smoothly. We were running late to a venue my son needed to get to due to weather. Still needed to shower. Upon entering suite in 3rd floor, stains in carpet. Freezing and not hot water. Staff sent engineering up but took 20 min at least. One of the heaters needed to be reset and water sis get to Luke warm after running for 10 15 min but not hot. We had to for go showers and leave for venue. When we arrives back to suite st 1 am it was still cold and water still not hot. Tried to shower it got cold again. I have had cancer and also was here for an apt and this made my issue very painful. My son and girlfriend tried to shower and got cold as well. Called and reported. Want to move rooms in am going to bed. Called in am...no room to move to at first but wanted to get us to a shower. Then a min later had same room on 8th floor open. Brought us key ..I went up and took shower it was wonderful. No stains in the carpet different freebies. Glasses instead of cups, vanity kits downstairs has toothbrush and razor. Which should be in both rooms. Last time we stayed we had slippers but none this time. So we moved rooms. Then when we went to my apt asked about room credit and staff seemed to not think we would get one even though I complained twice . At 187 a night I'm not staying at a motel here. This is a regency Hyatt. I want hot water for my shower as that's what I paid for. He said it's been a known issue...I said why did you put me in that room to being with them. Then looked at reviews on way to apt and this has been going on for more than a few days... months. Came back went to dinner at hotel restaurant. 1 app was not in stock. And 1 dinner item as well. Prime rib X2 we ordered on special 19.95 was horrible but we were so hungry we ate as we hasn't had good since day before as we were late etc. didn't have time to order more as we needed to get back to 2nd night at venue. Also paid 29.50 per night for # vehicles vallet. Every time we called to have it brought up let it ring for 5min several times and no one answered the phone. Has to go down and ask to get car brought up. At departure we called front desk and had them go out and get 2nd one brought up as 1st was still there from over night. The Starbucks ran out of 2 item we tried to order for our group 6 bakery items so we had to get things we didn't want. Spoke with manager and he did credit us for the first night and 1 night for 1 car. Which I was very happy about. So all In all I was very disappointed in this stay from what I've had before. We had breakfast included for a few before but it wasn't in offering...and the stains in carpets throughout hotel and room. My big concern was cold water in room shower and sinks 2 of them. Speaking with other guests they had same issues...and this has been ongoing. Lobby bathroom has cold water as well. So what are they using in the kitchens? When cooking food and washing dishes and hands silverware tables bedding? I have been a member for quite some time and stayed at several levels of these Hyatt brands...it's been several years since I was here but I advise to steer clear heed the reviews. They did make it right but they knew the issue before arrival and never should put people in rooms where they are having these issues. Good luck! Ps construction outside woke us up a long with housekeeping at 8 am i had 2 doors I told housekeeper don't knock on other door she still did ..I had to walk around into other room and open door to get her to stop knocking and say I said this was my room don't knock we only had 1 hanger for door but it didn't matter. They didn't care.
I have stayed here many times before in the same room on different floors in years past this was by far the worst hotel stay I...
Read moreWe are World of Hyatt members - Hyatt hotels are our preferred brand. This visit was not to the standard we are typically used to when we stay overnight.
Rooms: The hotel room was clean and ready when we arrived. King size bed was comfortable, and there was enough space for our one suitcase. HOWEVER, the lack of electric outlets was alarming. The options: We could either unplug the table lamp that was plugged into the clock, or there was a power strip near the closet - not at all accessible for our needs. There was a giant rip in the curtain and a very obvious hole in the wall near the window. There was also rust on the hardware in the shower.
Hallways were noisy throughout our time. Our room was directly located across from the elevators on the 15th floor. I would have thought that as World of Hyatt members that we would have been given a room with better placement than adjacent to the loudest and busiest area of the floor.
The Main Lobby: This area, honestly, felt like a hot mess. There was no designated check in area for members; so fine, we had to wait in line, but this is supposed to be one of the "perks" of being a member. There were Hockey players (teen boys) running all around without supervision, lounging on the furniture, manhandling the sculptures and other items. I think their parents were in the sitting area drinking and eating and not caring at all what their sons were doing - as long as they got their time to socialize. But it made me not what to be anywhere near the lobby. The front end employees were either oblivious to it or just didn't care; no one spoke up. The valet workers never answered their phone or responded to texts, so we ended waiting outside in the cold until someone appeared to get our car from the garage the both times we needed it. I asked the front end workers for some assistance, but was told to try again with texting and I could just wait by the door. We were late for our event.
Food: We couldn't eat at the in-house restaurant due to some computer issue, unless you paid cash, which I hadn't planned on doing, so I couldn't. Unless we wanted to venture out into the city at 11pm (I was alone with my teenage daughter so this was not an option for us), our only options to eat after we got back to the hotel was to use UberEats or the hotel Snack Bar. I was looking forward to sitting in hotel restaurant under the Buffalo night lights and chatting with my teenager about the concert we just went to; instead, we grabbed some granola bars and a Cup-o-Noodles and ate in our hotel room (again, because it was too loud and chaotic in the lobby areas). Kind of a crummy way to end our night. The hotel breakfast was overpriced as far as hotel-style breakfasts go. And the in-house Starbucks lacked enough staff so the line was too long and customers grew impatient.
Location: The hotel is very conveniently located to almost everywhere, but navigating Buffalo traffic completely negated the close proximity of the hotel for the arena. (Shea's Theatre is within walking distance, which is really nice though, if you don't have any reservations about walking the streets of Buffalo).
While this stay won't keep me from staying at other Hyatt Hotels in the future, this particular experience did lessen the overall happiness that we were hoping to have while visiting Buffalo. I may consider a different hotel if we are ever in...
Read moreWe chose this hotel because we were in town for my sisters graduation at Buffalo State University. This hotel was located in downtown Buffalo and the commute to the university would be a quick trip, which is what we needed. Upon arriving to the hotel, the hotel looks like a regular hotel with a really nice lobby. We checked in and the front desk was nice and even gave us a complementary appetizer. That was very kind of them. When we went upstairs to check out room, everything was going great until my mom said that she was smelling poop. Because my sinuses were irritating along with my allergies I couldn’t really smell. We were both trying to find the smell but we couldn’t find it and because we were so tired after our eight hour ride from New York City we just went to sleep because we had to leave early for the graduation in the morning. However before we slept I definitely sprayed the whole entire beds and room with Lysol that I brought with me. I was already paranoid due to viral videos I’ve seen of people showing how hotel rooms are sometimes not clean as people think it is. After doing that, we just went to bed.
The next morning we woke up and the smell was prominent again. This time I can smell it as well. My mom and I spent an hour trying to figure out where it’s coming from because we didn’t understand, especially because the smell was in one particular area. After a while, we found exactly where the poop is coming from. It was a streak of poop stains that was on the sheets on the side that gets tucked under the bed. And the reason we couldn’t find it earlier is because my mom slept on top of the comforter. When we find out we was utterly disgusted. I was really upset because my mom slept on a bed that had poop on it. That is very very very very unsanitary. How can the housekeeping missed that ? Were the sheets even wash? My mom and I cringed on how much germs were probably on the bed. We couldn’t even eat. I wanted to leave the room immediately, because that was just a disgusting sight to see. I stayed in so many hotels, even ones that are subpar But never ever did we see something like this!!
We checked out after the discovery. But before heading downstairs, we noticed that housekeeping was on the floor so my mom took a picture and show them what we found in person. We went downstairs and notified front desk. They told me because I booked through a third party, there’s nothing that they can really do for us but we should send the picture that we took to the email of the Director of housekeeping of the hotel. We didn’t want to argue because we were already running a little bit late to the graduation so I said ok. However, I am disappointed that nothing could have been done or offered. This is a health hazard and a very nasty experience. For anyone who books this hotel please thoroughly check the sheets and as a caution please bring sanitation products whenever checking into any hotel, you can never be too careful.
I will be calling the booking site I used to see if I can get a partial refund back. Just thinking about it makes me cringe and I felt bad for my mom. Thankfully, my bed was OK.
The front desk are super nice! Just upset that nothing was done. It felt like a brush off when in actuality this is a horrible event...
