Well we have lived in the area for just over a year and hadn’t been here yet. We had stopped by a couple of times but never caught them when they were open. Today we were looking for a spot to eat and remembered Hatch and they were open. I’m sorry to say it was our first and will be our last time coming here. The food was very mediocre and VERY pricey for what you get. The service was worse than the food. Had to ask for things 2-3 times and I don’t think that the couple of waitresses we saw (and for sure the one we had) spoke very good English. I could have over looked that but the coffee was cold and my husband’s French toast was cold. My omelet was hot but void of flavor. We ordered bread for the table and asked for some jelly. We waited 5 minutes and nothing so we started eating the bread without. After another 5 minutes they brought it. Well, not much bread left at that point. There was not any part of the meal we truly enjoyed. Not the food, not the service and not the atmosphere. We were seated next to a back table by the office door and employees kept going in and out causing our meal to be interrupted since it is so cramped. We really love supporting locally owned businesses, and don’t mind paying for good quality food and service, but for us, this was not it. Bad service and cold...
Read moreWell, this one hurts. I so badly want to support local folks, especially when someone has clearly put a lot of effort in to this cafe ... but after three straight bad service experiences, well, something's wrong. It always took a long time at Hatch, which fine, small bespoke bakery places like this just do, so I would accept that. And the food and atmosphere are genuinely good. But three visits ago, they straight-up lost my order. Two visits ago, they got it substantially wrong. And then my most recent visit (about a week ago), they again lost my order! I was sitting there like a fool just waiting and waiting, and when I finally asked the lady at the counter - the very same one I had given my order to - she had no idea who I was. Mind you, I was one of about 10 people in the place. I was going to be late to work by this point, and so I just told her never mind. The owner or manager popped out and offered to pay for the meal, but again, I was late so I declined. And then the owner sort of chided me, as if it was my fault for not reminding them about my order in the first place. Woah. No ma'am, not cool. It's really too bad, as again this is the exact type of place I want to support over the same old chains. But you've got to meet me half-way y'all. I don't think...
Read moreAugust 2025 update Unfortunately this place has changed a lot since my last visit, and not for the better. It is now a full service restaurant. You no longer walk up to the counter to order. You wait to be seated and have a server. They must still be doing renovations inside because it does not look finished. My favorite thing was the egg salad and it is completely off the menu now. The chicken salad recipe may have also changed since my last visit. I went with a group of 9 friends. And they were able to push some tables together for us. It was hard to understand the server and very loud in the room. I think there may have been only one server for the entire place and we had to go searching at one point to get our water refilled. Overall, I was very disappointed with the experience. Hatch Cafe has been one of my favorite places for brunch but I'm not sure if I want to go back now. Changing my stars from 5 to 3.
Super cute cafe with excellent chicken salad sandwich. Lunch comes with fruit or chips and a small cookie. Water and tea to drink. There are a few tables inside and more outside in the front and around the corner. Will...
