Needed a dog friendly spot to hang out with my dog, niece, and mother in law. This seemed like a nice spot. Was full but we got lucky to take one of the fee parking spots. Place seemed nice. One part actually had fans and misters which would have been great if they had been on our side too. It was tooo hot otherwise. We grabbed a table and headed to the menu. My mother in law got the Coconut Chicken Salad I got the Chicken Club, my niece got the Clas-ic Burger. I honestly can't remember the correct burger name but can edit later. We've decided maybe to come back and try a cafe and pastry but not the food. Salad was good. Chicken a little dry but over all the dressing had a good flavor. My niece couldn't even finish her burger, it was that bad. My dog that would eat poop given the chance and loves human food didn't even want to touch the meat from the burger. So I cant say personally. The chicken club I ate was mediocre at best. For the price I could have gotten the same club AND a shake at THabit and would have paid about the same for just the Club here. Chicken was so thin might as well gotten deli meat. My niece wanted me to clarify the 2 star is because of the location and atmosphere. Otherwise it would be less. Might still be. We had to go home as my stomach started to hurt, feeling quite ill.

First time visiting this restaurant. I really wanted to like this place since the atmosphere is nice and the food presentation is good. There was a pretty long line to wait in to place the order at the counter before receiving a number to find a table to seat ourselves. The only table available wasn't wiped down, so we wiped it ourselves. Ordered two smoothies, salmon bagel, acai bowl, and a burger patty for the dog. Picked up the smoothies at the counter ourselves. The smoothies were okay. The food took half an hour to arrive. When it did arrive, I noticed the smallest amount of cream cheese- enough for half the bagel and asked for more. I then noticed the browning on the salmon. I brought it to the wait staff's attention and she offered to bring more. She brought more and said the chef said it was normal. I have never been served browning salmon before. The additional salmon was browned, too. I cut out the brown bits and ate it, since I was hungry. Stomach issues followed. The browning of the salmon is apparent in both photos. The brown in the middle.of the spiral is not a shadow.

I’ve been coming to Basecamp for over a year, and from my first visit I knew that it was going to be my regular coffee shop. John, the owner, is known by many and he is always there, highly involved with everything from overseeing to the little tasks. Coming from a background in the foodservice industry, I know this to be rare, and I believe that’s why Basecamp is so successful. I love all the baristas there and they felt like friends from the start. I always feel special and like I’m walking into a much needed refuge when I go. Not to mention the coffee quality, which makes it a double whammy with the food and pasties, as well as cups of comfort that I never regret. Thank you all for being so kind and welcoming always. I have met so many great people here, staff, customers, and the canine community! I feel very thankful this morning, love you all!

Um... i might not recommend this unless you want a full detox. We were near Griffith Park and needed to pass some time before a show. This place looked adorable from all the photos of their outdoor seating, the beautiful pastries, and the charming interior. The reviews looked good too. When we got there we spent some time looking at the menu, i heard one of the staff members shout out to the Cashier that they only have one carrot cake left after selling the one she was prepping for the order. Which lead us to contemplate getting the last one, but i looked at the display of stale pastries and thought maybe not now but we'll see after the meal. Maybe that should've been my first red flag but it wasn't. We ordered an explorer plate: brisket, pork ribs w/ cornbread waffles and red bean chilli, rib tips, fries veggie smash burger, and a chai tea. It took about 15 mins+ for the food to get to our table. The tea wasn't hot but we overlooked that since the blend was really great. The fries were warm and delicious. None of the meat was hot. It tasted stale. I just thought they were light on seasoning but it's possible it just went bad. All the meat was warm like it was just left out near the sun. I was naive and excited to try some BBQ but I was greated this morning to a rude awakening and an involuntary stomach cleanse.

I don't know much about food handling but i just feel like they might be doing it wrong. I couldn't finish my plate because it was stale and i thought it looked okay enough to take home and heat up later but waking up had me throw it all away. I guess I'm saying getting anything with lukewarm meat is a risky decision and maybe I'll stick to places where the food is made to order.

The staff seemed nice and the ambiance is lovely but I'll be terrified of ordering meat...

I'm not sure what has changed here, but we used to really love coming to Basecamp for a weekend breakfast or brunch. It's a place we loved to bring out of town guests as well. We always looked forward to the food, the chill atmosphere and the delicious coffee. But our last few visits have been very subpar and disappointing. We've received our eggs and bacon cold and the quality of food has definitely dipped. Maybe they're doing too much volume and can't keep the quality up. I have noticed they've got busier and busier. Today really was the most disappointing. It took my wife and I 45 minutes to receive our lunch. It was only a salad and a chicken wrap. Others who sat down way after us received their food before us. I used to be a server and floor manager at a restaurant- I know that something must've happened. Especially since one of the multiple kids that work there came up and asked us what we ordered. We asked the counter a few times what was taking so long and they replied "I'll check," and then proceed to keep working behind the counter and helping other guests. I would have only rated one star, but the food was tasty once we got it. I just think we probably won't be returning unfortunately. The price point isn't worth the...
