We discovered Lotus during the earlier days of the pandemic and are so glad we did. We call in orders regularly on weekends and have had blessedly few problems with anything. Delivery is free if you order more than $25 worth of food. We're glad they have their own driver; we can avoid extra fees and support their business more by contacting the restaurant. The lady who answers the phone for them on weekends is so sweet! She takes the order down correctly and reads it back well. As a result, we've never mistakenly gotten food we didn't order or not received something we did order. The driver is kind, quick, and efficient. Orders tend to be packed well so they don't spill.
The food itself is good, without being super fancy or low-end. We order full entrees rather than lunch specials and haven't had issues with portion sizes. They offer a good number of items so we haven't tried everything but we do experiment from time to time, and there have been a few things that weren't to our taste. We tend to enjoy their bao, chicken and string beans, shrimp dumplings, General Tao's chicken, and duck (when we splurge on duck). Their sizzling rice soup is now a comfort food for me. Most of the dishes labeled "spicy" don't have a lot of burn; they're fairly mild to us, but you can spice it up how you like it with the chili paste they often include.
We picked up our food from the restaurant once so we could meet the staff in person (and they were as friendly as ever). We were impressed by how much seating was available; you should be able to fit a small, medium, or large group there, so long as they aren't already full (calling ahead seems wise). Everything looked clean, which isn't always the case at other places these days. The restaurant itself was empty at the time and they said they were doing a lot more orders for delivery or takeout. I don't know if that's still the case, but if it is, dining in should...
Read moreUpdate: Today my food was cold and the fortune cookie was old and STALE, and just like the other couple times that I visited, there was no one in the restaurant. The shrimp fried rice today is okay I placed my order when I arrived and it was ready in 3 minutes. Shrimp fried rice matched the price, infact I'm sitting in my car outside in front because I came back for more. The pot stickers were average and enough sauce to accompany half of my order. Now the fried wontons that declare that they have chicken in them do not. I shared with the older lady while waiting for my shrimp fried rice today this. She said some foolishness about them having to put a very small amount in them because they burst and break up. This makes absolutely no sense at all, and apparently they know absolutely NOTHING about preparing fried wonton. I'll just have to locate another place, because I paid $10.00 for fried flour and not fried well. Oh well you win some you loose some, and they just lost me with that lame...
Read moreFriend and I ordered from Lotus Chinese Cuisine thru Too Good To Go, and we were clearly scammed by the restaurant, as other have reported.
The food is obviously not the day's remaining Chinese food from restaurant, food clearly days old microwaved American pulled pork sandwich shipped in from Yaamava Casino over an hour away. This poses a huge health risk and is false advertising, did not eat food at all.
Lotus is clearly trying to take advantage of the Too Good To Go platform in order to make an extra buck and sell other people's trash, rather than honestly and properly using the platform as it was intended.
Restaurant should be removed from the TGTG platform. I will be reporting to the health department and relevant agencies. These types of foolish, ridiculous, and comically dishonest business practices warrant disciplinary action or closure of business.
Shame,...
