We made reservations for New Year’s Eve, since most places were already booked and this location was close to us. Good thing there was a structure for parking since it was raining hard. Once we walked in, there were two to three people behind the desk and we let the hostess know we had reservations; we also inquired about a booth. She turned to the other lady and it seemed like she was asking her if there was anything available and who was working what tables. We stood there patiently as they talked amongst themselves as if they were getting us a booth. After a few minutes, we asked if a booth was available. She then said something along the lines of she was discussing several other things with her coworkers… Ummm, we thought she was trying to figure out a booth for us! Anyways, we decided to just be seated at a table.
We sat down and received an extensive drink menu book, a special drink menu, and the regular food menu. We started off with the warm bread and butter, which was delicious. We ordered the scallop with bacon appetizer and had to pay $9 more for an additional piece since it only included 3, and the number of our party was four. Some of the items we ordered included the onion soup, shrimp scampi, salmon with the garnish on the side, pork chops, and the ribeye. We also ordered three baked potatoes and asparagus, as the entrees did not come with any sides. The baked potatoes were delicious since they were huge and loaded. The shrimp in the scampi was cooked well and they were jumbo. I had the ribeye which was supposed to be cooked rare plus, but it was more on the medium side. I felt bad and didn’t want to waste the cut, but I should have sent it back to get a new one. I let the waitress know but she didn’t do anything about it. It was a weird back and forth with her (like she was applying the Jedi mind trick on me) about the way I wanted it cooked and I didn’t feel like waiting for a new steak. The pork chop could have used some sauce as it was on the dry side, though it was ordered well done. We also ordered drinks and they were mediocre, not the best martini I’ve had. It had cheese stuffed olives but they weren’t as flavorful as the ones I’m used to having.
For dessert, we had the bread pudding which came with a scoop of ice cream, the chocolate lava cake that also came with ice cream and three raspberries and an order of the ice cream which came with two scoops. The bread pudding was moist and layered. The lava cake was rich but didn’t have much of a lava flow. The ice cream was vanilla and chocolate and that was good.
The ambiance was nice for it being NYE and it was not overly crowded but the service was slow and not what we expected from a premier steakhouse. The prices for the entrees seemed a bit steep for the quality of cuts, but if you can get away with overcharging, you’re going to overcharge. All in all it was an okay experience, but not one we’d care to repeat...
Read moreIn from out of town, and wanted a good steakhouse. This was close to our hotel, and read reviews, so thought this would be great to celebrate my son's birthday. WRONG! First, I looked up dress attire, to ensure we were dressed appropriately, and our appearance was clean and neat after a day at the beach. Yet, our server and other servers looked disheveled. Like they just rolled out of bed, pulled their hair back, and slapped on all black attire. Why expect your guests to be neat, when your staff isn't? Then, figured okay, maybe it was extremely busy (it wasn't) but I'll give her that, because it was another excuse I tried to make for taking 20 minutes just to get our drink order (about 30 minutes total just to get in the food order). Got wedge salad which was really good, French onion soup (horrible... way too sweet, no balance with savory to sweetness and we sent it back), and shrimp cocktail (decent but sauce with horseradish was overbearing). Ordered ribeye medium (good thing as it was almost rare but I can handle that for a steak). Steak was flavorless, no seasoning whatsoever. Double Pork chop was decent, but the so-called apple chutney was awful. Never had chutney with an overwhelming amount of horseradish. When brought to waitresses attention, she claimed it was black pepper. It was not! Cleared up all of our noses! Lobster tail was over cooked, and rubbery, but thankfully the delicious black truffle butter i added on side for my steak made it all edible. Got sour cream mashed potatoes that were so bland my arm hurts from trying to add salt to potatoes, soup, and steak to one again.... at least make them edible. When asked to take mashed potatoes back, she said they are very basic, just potatoes and sour cream, no seasoning because people complained about being too salty. I'm sorry but in a restaurant like this, there's no reason why chefs can't taste their food and ensure proper seasoning. The scalloped potatoes were good, but French fries once again, needed salt/flavor. At this point I didn't even ask for those to be taken back. Just left them there fully uneaten just as they came out. The best part was the end. Deserts were all tasty. My entire party left so dissatisfied. Felt like the cost we paid for this food, would have been better spent at a Texas Roadhouse where their food actually has flavor. Granted, she removed the soup and potatoes from check, but I'd rather have been able to eat all that we ordered. Will NOT recommend or try this place again in the...
Read moreUnfortunately our experience here was HORRIBLE. My husband and I went out for my birthday & last minute decided to try morton’s since our favorite steakhouse (nick & stefs) was closing early. We saw online they were having a dinner deal (tomahawk, salad, 2 sides for $169) sounds great enough for the both of us. we arrived at our reservation time 8:… & waited about 15 minutes to get sat, no problem we have patience. Once we sat down we waited about 5 minutes before our waitress brought out the menus & asked if we wanted sparkling or still, we chose bottled Panna. once she brought that out she asked if we wanted drinks from the bar we opted out because I am pregnant & my husband was the driver for the night (this is when I feel things turned sour ) obviously alcohol is where they make their sales & I know this because I was a waitress I used to work for a landry’s restaurant as well. She returned and asked if we were ready to order & that’s when I asked about their “special” for the night & she said we don’t have a special & I brought up the tomahawk deal they were having & she continued that’s not a special, that’s a whole different menu & made me feel dumb. walked away & grabbed the smaller paper menu. came back & verbatim “are you guys ready”. We never received a proper introduction (what her name was, asked us if we dined at morton’s before , give us a run down of the menu) we sat and watched as the tables around us received great service and respect & we felt as if we were treated like we were eating at mcdonalds. when our steak came it was Medium Rare although I ordered it Medium. At this point I had a bad taste in my mouth from the service I wasn’t going to complain & have her give us worse service. we had a slice of steak each & packed it to go. The “loaded” Mashed Potatoes were literally mashed potatoes with cheese on top that was burnt, No flavor what so ever. Although it was horrible service we still left her $34 or $36 on subtotal of $183 because maybe she was having a bad night & took it out on us, remember I was a waitress I get it, I also didn’t want to live up to the stereotype she probably created of us when we walked in. I should have left $0 but we were generous . Save yourself the trip & make your way to the next steakhouse & get your moneys worth & great service . Taylor do better . (the only reason we know her name is because of...
