A Slice Worthy of _
Listen.
If you're wondering what to expect, I'm gonna do my best to paint you a picture.
I’ve been lucky enough to eat pizza in some incredible places—Florence, Rome, those little tucked-away spots somewhere, sometime in Italy where the locals swear by their favorite spots where the slice basically comes straight out of the oven of heaven. I say this not as a brag, but as a baseline for what to cautiously expect (purely out of respect).
So, walking into Prime I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted - quick pizza that respects the basics but gets the details more or less just right.
And let me tell you. They didn’t just meet expectations—they decidedly surpassed them.
Let’s talk about the crust. It’s thin, as it should be, and hot with just the right balance of crisp and chew. The edges had a slight char, bringing a subtle smokiness that didn’t overpower but added to the overall flavor. It’s the kind of crust that holds its shape when folded yet feels light enough that keeps you going back for another slice.
The sauce was bright and full of flavor. We got the arrabiatta so it had some spicy kick to it but not so much that you're worried more about it coming out than going in. It was spot on. You could taste the quality of the tomatoes without making it the star of the show. It was just the right amount of tangy, with a slight sweetness and spiciness that paired swimmingly with the cheese.
And speaking of cheese, they nailed it. Like nailed it nailed it. Creamy and melted to perfection, with just a hint of that savory tang you get from good mozzarella. They didn’t drown the pizza in it either, which I appreciated. Really all the toppings were thoughtfully done. Each one adding something to the slice without making it feel heavy or one-sided.
And let’s not forget the fold. You know it’s a good slice when you can fold it up, take a bite, and everything stays exactly where it’s supposed to. It’s a simple pleasure really, but it makes all the difference. And it just really rounds out the whole experience.
But what I loved most about this place was how unpretentious it is. They clearly care about making great pizza, and it shows. It’s not trying to be anything other than what it is—a really, really, good neighborhood slice.
So, to sum up: this place is a slice worthy of:
A craving, a hankering, a comfort, or a celebration.
The everyday slice. A true slice...
Read moreBest Pizza in Los Angeles!! I wanna start by saying I got a few pizzas for my coworkers and I heard this place was great. They had some sort of glitch with the online orders so they were deep in weeds when I called but the women on the phone was very friendly and apologized for the inconvenience. Then when I arrived she and one of the other guys were very apologetic and polite and they handled the situation very well in terms of customer service. I really appreciate this more than everything, because so often these days people working in the service industry are quite short and rude with customers, the women and gentleman working at Prime that day were excellent and I felt very good about the way I was treated-Thank you Now for the pizza! Wow! Sensational, I got the Sicilian spicy pepperoni crispy- You see I'm from Buffalo NY and the Sicilian pizza is just a regular pizza in Buffalo, thats how its made mostly everywhere-square cut with spicy pep, in Buffalo we call it Cup n Char, because the pep curls like a cup and pools the pork grease and the corners char just perfect. So when I heard they had this type of pizza I had to try it, it was awesome! Make the drive to Burbank and support this pizzera it is the best pizza in Los Angeles-get this pie and come back and tell me how tasty it was. I'm going to review it properly on FOOD FRIDAY on my Youtube channel as I want people to see and taste how delicious the pizza is. It's made with quality pepperoni and cheese and the dough is crusty around the edges and soft up the square, just the way pizza ought to be! Thank you very much Prime Pizza for making a great pizza, thanks for treating me right I will always recommend your place and will be a return customer. And lastly...thanks for the free cold slice while I waited, it was great gesture as...
Read moreI write a lot of restaurant reviews of all kinds of different foods, especially from a vegetarian perspective, in many places all over Los Angeles and the world...but all I really need out of life is solid NYC pizza slices. Where I live in the Santa Clarita Valley they're hard to come by, so a drive to Burbank to discover a place that checks all the boxes for NYC slices, and offers more deliciousness...well, warm up the car, honey, we're going out tonight!
My wife, son and I visited together...it's a small spot with just a few parking spaces...we were lucky to nab one. You order at the conter in a sort of inside space and then take it to go or eat at their outside tables. They've got super-rock solid NYC slices. We all had cheese slices to start and had no complaints...perfect crust...perfect ratio of cheese to sauce (ie not too much cheese and not too little sauce) gave us the exact experience we were looking for. Hallelujah!
Enter their thicker square pie slices...more Detroit style...not your typical, basic restaurant pizza...but truly fantastic and perfectly cooked crispy dough with all kinds of enticing options on top...we had Sicillian slices of this variety and are still salivating over the gorgeous flavors that went into our mouths.
If Prime Pizza opened in Santa Clarita, we'd set up camp outside and never leave. It was super good...well worth the 20 minute drive from where we were and they have plenty of reasons on their menu for us to go back, try new things, and have more of what we really loved.
This is excellent NYC and Sicilian/Detroit style pizza, right in Burbank. This is what we've all been...
