First things first, I'm bumping my review to 4 stars based on the reputation of the brand.
Overall, my visit was ok. I almost missed the place; finding it tucked away in the corner of a new area of shops and in the shadow of Amazon's newest complex.
Upon, store entry, I greeted the two team members, they seemed a little dumbfounded by it all. I think I interrupted a deep conversation plus, I was having a pretty awesome day so maybe I came in too strong.
Mulling over the delicious looking display of delectables. I felt they were a little impatient with me. When I started making choices, a team member keep saying how many. To be honest, I wasn't sure what they were talking about at first. Ok, I get it! They needed to determine what size box to use.
I think my excitement and indecision was not appreciated. I quickly made three choices, maybe I would have gotten more, but I felt the mood was hurry up. I'm actually grateful, I think they saved me a few dollars not over ordering.
Finally, I left with my reward in hand. After arriving home, I was ready for my treat. However, the donuts fell short of my expectations.
The beautiful, maple bacon Long John was a dry and was missing something. The standard glaze felt dense and didn't give me that moment of heaven that I aspect from a Randy's donut. My third option was given to a friend, a cherry glaze topped cake doughnut. They said it was good, so we will go with that.
My conclusion, I think being a new location, without the foot traffic yet, may have allowed these beauties to sit a bit longer and lose a little freshness. Just my opinion.
Maybe in the future, I'll try again if I'm in the area. But it definitely won't be another...
Read moreWhen I asked if there were any “must try” spots Randy’s doughnuts came highly recommended
Lucky for me it was right next to our hotel so before we hopped on the road to head home we snagged some good ole coffee and doughnuts
Personally I thought the coffee tasted like frothed milk and very little coffee. Overall the hint of caramel for a hot Caramel coffee was pretty light
If I had to guess I think it was more like 98% milk and 2% coffee
Had the flavors been more balance it would have been a hit
We got an assortment of doughnuts to try out
My personal favorite was the cronoli (forgive me for bothering the spelling)
This was flaky and crispy in all the right places. The doughnut wasn’t too sweet but the perfect combination of a doughnut and croissant
My nephew absolutely devoured the apple fritter I was lucky to get a bite
The bite I did have was delicious
I know sometimes apple fritters are fried hard and you can taste the grease so I was happy this was not the case
The doughnuts are pretty big in comparison to other spots I’ve tried
All in all I would grab a doughnut and get my coffee elsewhere
I see they are building a new one here in Phx so I’m pretty...
Read moreCame in at around 3pm today to grab a dozen donuts for the family as Randy's is one of our favorite donut shops. I walked into the store only to find it was empty except for one customer sitting at a table enjoying their beverage. After about 2 minutes of waiting, I finally said "HELLO", 30 seconds later a lady comes walking from the back on the landline talking to what sounded like her manager. No big deal at all. Where it gets unprofessional is the following 3 minutes where the lady on the phone continues her phone call. No acknowledgement, Not a even a "I'll be right with you", just continued on the phone talking. By this time another customer had walked in and was standing behind me. After the phone call continued I finally just left. Never been treated like that at Randy's until now. And any manager would have immediately told her to please help the customer who by then had already waited 5 minutes. Please improve your customer service. Especially a RANDY's location that is located on the edge of the city and...
