American Bull is a solid sports bar serving up refreshing drinks and tasty food! This recent trip was actually my second time here, though the first was sometime between 7-10 years ago.

LOCATION: Its home is within the Burlingame Plaza, next door to a Lunardi’s grocery store. It's located directly across from the Mills-Peninsula Medical Center on the corners of Trousdale and El Camino Real.

PARKING: There generally is enough parking, though you may have to walk a bit further depending on the time of day and how busy it is. The lot and area seem safe, even at night when other things in the shopping center have closed down.

INSIDE: We went on a Sunday evening, around 6pm to watch the Sunday Night Football game. It was actually pretty busy, though there was some bar and highboy seating as well as a couple tables still available. We went with the traditional table because the older we get, the more we appreciate back support.

There are TVs EVERYWHERE. Most of the walls are lined with TVs, playing a variety of sports, but mostly whatever’s local or the “main game”. It’s also pretty loud.

There is a lot of cool sports memorabilia. They have a whole Giants corner, in addition to lots of Niners autographed jerseys, helmets, and footballs. There’s also a wall with dozens of autographed baseballs. We took some time to look at the names, and noticed plenty of Hall of Famers!

DRINKS: Their drink menu consists of 10+ white wine, 6 red wine, and 2 sparkling wine options available by the glass or the bottle.

They have bottled beer (domestic, imports, and microbrew) and cans (White Claw, High Noon, Wyder’s Pear Cider, Ace Joker apple cider, and Guinness). They also have a couple non-alcoholic beer options, and other non-alcoholic options (coffee, tea, Pepsi products, juice, and Arnold Palmers).

They also have over a dozen beers on tap, as well as a full bar that can provide shots and likely make most cocktails.

Prices for most drinks are actually quite reasonable for the area—on par with a sports bar more than a fancy restaurant.

FOOD: Their menu is surprisingly large. For appetizers they have a lot of typical bar food options (fries, onion rings, potato skins, mozzarella sticks, wings, chicken tenders, sliders, quesadillas, tacos, and even Lumpia).

There is a section with half a dozen tasty sounding salads, available in full or half sized portions. There is also a separate section for their chili, which is served in a cup or bowl, with shredded cheese, chopped onion, sour cream, and fresh jalapenos.

The sandwich portion of the menu is 10+ deep with options like burgers, a patty melt, Philly cheese steak, grilled and Buffalo fried chicken, salmon, BLT, and even a hotdog or polish dog (technically not a sandwich)!

The entree section looks bomb too, with items like BBQ ribs, NY steak, grilled or blackened salmon, linguini, chicken parm, ravioli, and meatballs. I love that this section has an Italian flair, and want to come back to try things like the chicken parm!

This recent trip we went with friends and split a few things amongst the groups. I got the patty melt, with a side of chili. The melt was solid, not spectacular. I would have liked the grilled onions cooked a little more. The chili was also good, not great. We got all the accoutrements on the side, which allowed us to try it on its own first, then add as we go. Our friends ordered a Chinese chicken salad, and a burger basket with onion rings. They both finished their meals and noted that they enjoyed them!

OVERALL: While this is basically a bar, it’s also a restaurant. There were several children under the age of 10 running around screaming that were part of larger groups. Not sure if there’s a specific time when minors are no longer allowed…

The service was friendly enough, and the bathrooms were clean when we went. This is for sure a great spot to grab a drink, bite to eat, and watch a sports game or...

Go to rhis fantastic restaurant/ sports bar Amon M/Th nights and Sundays for NFL especially when my Minnesota Vikings are on! Do the Griddy JJ! Our Vikings are 10-2 in 2nd place in NFC and can clinch Central by beating 🦁 on Sunday! Do the griddy JJ!! SKOL fantastic food! Chili is award 🏆 winning! Tried almost everything on menu(every Viking game, try a different entree ); their Sunday brunch specials are delicious 😋 !! Love ❤️ this place/lifetime Viking fan/born/raised, watched 1040 Viking games(52 years) in a row since 1970. Suffered through 4 SB losses(1970 to KC, 72 to Miami, 75 to Oakland, 77 to Pittsburgh). Could JJ do “the Griddy” and lead us to our first SB victory? We’ve been patient: we’ll win the central at an incredible 11-2 if we eat lions on Sunday! Viking fans, see ya at the Bull on Sunday! SKOL t love all dishes;a cup of their award winning 🏆 chili is a must! Make sure to wear your purple 84 Randy Moss jersey if U have one so I can drag you to sit with us at the Vikings table! smSKOL baby. Let’s 🕺 the “Griddy” with JJ! Vikings Football...

Absolutely one of the best sports bar with a genuine home style atmosphere. Plenty of parking. Great chefs, great food, great servers, great attitudes. Their breakfast menu is phenomenal. Appetizers are delicious and many to choose from. Their brunch/lunch specials are phenomenal. Unfortunately I was unable to try their Dinner menu but from the looks of it. Next time I'll be trying the spaghetti platter. Full bar ranging from local to domestic beers and different liquors. Keep in mind this is a sports bar with a deep love for Bay Area Sports. I call it a 49ers bar. Belive me all teams are welcomed so please do not hesitate to show love. Go ahead and paint your face, wear your cheese heads don't forget your jerseys. It's all love here at the #americanbullbar&grill. Did I mention this place has wall to wall flat screen TV's. No matter where you choose to sit you'll have a excellent view. Indoor outdoor seating is available along with flat screen TV's and outdoor heaters to keep you cozy...

First time here on a Sunday evening. Tons of tvs with multiple sports going on. Not a bad view anywhere if you want to watch the game. They are Bay Area sports team friendly. Parking was super easy when we got there. No host of greeter near the door but someone directed us of an available table for our group of 4. After a few minutes, someone brought us menus and we saw a decent beer and drink selection including many draft options. Someone else came to take the drink order then another 5 minutes before we ordered food. Service seemed casual at best. We ordered a burger with onion rings, Chinese salad, a melt, and chili cup. All were pretty standard fare, but I did enjoy the salad and chili. Maybe save a bit and get on the side for $1.50. Cup is around $6. We would def come back to watch other future games and maybe try different food options or the appetizer menu. Lots of choices.

The food was bland. It needed salt. The Philly cheese steak sandwich was good but needed more meat. The nachos were flavorless but pretty to look at. The chili cheese fries looked good but tasted like some fabuloso was on something the food was prepared with. The chili cheese fries also needed work. I liked the friendly atmosphere. I really enjoyed the sound system for the Superbowl. The staff kept forgetting about us because we were in the corner. I like the bar but it needs better more flavorful food like carne asada fries, a better chili recipe, better nachos with refried beans. But again, the friendly environment and the sports fans made it very enjoyable ❤️👌🏾
