Tiger Tea & Juice — Restaurant in Burlingame

A great little boba shop in a low-key strip mall just south of the airport. I was craving some bubble tea after a long day (with a wedding in the evening), and I knew I needed some boba to revive my tired lids. We Yelped boba and discovered that Tiger Tea & Juice was only a few mere minutes from our hotel.

Being a matcha aficionado, I knew I had to get the matcha latte potted plant tea. I got a small for $4.25 and added boba for my topping. It's a neat drink because it really does resemble a potted plant. The drink is Japanese matcha with Straus organic milk, a layer of sea salt cream foam, and crumbled Oreos. They added a little sprig of mint on top. The flavors fuse really well together, and I loved the combo of matcha with Oreos and sea salt cream foam.

There are so many other drinks I want to try here! Obviously the classic milk tea but also drinks like the Earl Grey tea crema or the Earl Grey milk tea. They also have interesting flavors like durian flavored milk tea. Plus if you're not a boba fan, they have fresh fruit and veggie smoothies and fresh juices. You can customize your drink with additional toppings, and you can adjust the sweetness and ice levels.

The boba brown sugar with cheese foam was pretty good. I was quite thirsty so I downed it pretty fast, but the flavor was pretty good, though I think I was expecting more nuance of flavour in the brown sugar syrup. The cheese foam topping did have that nice nuance though. The default amount of boba isn't all that much be advised to order extra boba if you really like boba. The ordering is done through a tablet which allows you to see the pictures of the drinks if you need that in order to decide. I think you can probably also order from a person. The interior was nice and minimalist with a fair amount of small tables and one large table tucked into an alcove. It looked like there were plenty of electrical outlets if you want to do work there. I do kind of find it sad that so many businesses have very little interaction with people anymore. When your order is done you will get a text that it is done. I guess that this is helpful for efficiency and that is really nice for some people. I would say that the wait was pretty long though, so I don't know if this is actually making anything more efficient. I love their milk teas, but I had a terrible experience at the Burlingame location. I ordered two of the same drinks, knowing that they are fixed and cannot be modified. But I had a simple request: could one of them be made without ice, since I was going to save it for later for someone? I stated I was willing to take less of the drink if that was the issue. The first employee refused, and the second employee was even more rude saying "no modifications" and glared at me. I felt like they didn't care about me as a customer at all.

I usually go to the San Jose location, and I honestly think they have some of the best milk teas in the bay. Now I’m questioning going to any of their locations. This was my first and last time at the Burlingame one. I hope they improve their service. Can’t believe I even...
