Barrelhouse — Restaurant in Burlingame

I called in advance to ask if they had my favorite tequila (Don Julio Añejo), the woman who answered the phone told me they did. We took a $30 Uber to get there. When we got there, the manager noticed that we were very cold, and he said to let the hostess know to seat us in a warm area. The hostess told us that they only had seating available in their back patio. She refused to let us wait in their patio while a table inside became available, so we took the table that she assigned to us in the patio. A very nice server asked how we were doing, and when we told him we were very cold, he kindly told us that a table inside was about to become available, and that we could sit there. We had to wait over 30 minutes for service, and we were told that they didn't have the tequila we wanted. The server told us that they did have Don Julio Blanco & Reposado. We asked for Margaritas with Don Julio Reposado. After waiting another 20 minutes for our drinks, the waiter came to us with Margaritas with the wrong tequila (first he said it was Ocho Reposado, and then said it was 7 Leguas Reposado), and stated that he told us they didn't have Don Julio Reposado, which was a lie. I really want(ed) to like Barrelhouse. That being said, the place didn’t have a lot of redeeming qualities. For starters, for a place advertised as a cocktail bar, there is definitely much to be desired from their menu. For the most part, it felt like the options were drinks inundated with alcohol and a bit of lime (or some other fruit) juice. Their lack of creativity didn’t prevent them from charging $13

Editing this from 2 to 3 stars - the owner reached out to us after my review to further explain the negative review and how they can improve. We definitely appreciate it and will give Barrelhouse another chance sometime soon.

Original Review: Very disappointed with this place, especially reading other good reviews and seeing the place online. Came on a Thursday night - cocktails were overpriced for what was given ($14 for cups filled 3/4 with ice), and tasted like something I could make at home easily (way too sugary with very little alcohol). I've gotten way better and more creative cocktails at other places nearby that I'd gladly pay that much for. Ordered the charcuterie plate for $17 - got back cheap cheese and meat, and plastic utensils. I could have went to Trader Joe's and got better quality ingredients.
