Mason Food Review: La Corneta Taqueria – The Best Mexican Food in San Carlos
If you're on the hunt for authentic, mouthwatering Mexican food in the Bay Area, La Corneta Taqueria in San Carlos is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk through the door, you're greeted with warm hospitality and the unmistakable aroma of freshly grilled meats and hand-prepared ingredients.
🌮 The Food: Let’s get straight to it—the tacos are fire. Whether you go for carnitas, carne asada, or the flavorful al pastor, every bite hits with bold, perfectly seasoned flavors. Their burritos are massive, packed with tender meat, fluffy rice, creamy beans, and just the right amount of salsa. The shrimp and fish tacos? Next level. Fresh, zesty, and cooked just right.
🌯 Don’t skip:
The super burrito (loaded and layered like a dream)
Chips & salsa bar (fresh, with multiple spicy options)
The quesadilla suiza (cheesy, crispy edges—total comfort food)
🤝 Customer Service: This place doesn’t just serve great food—they treat you like family. The staff is friendly, fast, and always ready to offer a recommendation or customize your order. They keep the place clean, the line moving, and the vibes positive even during busy lunch rushes.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ La Corneta Taqueria isn’t just one of the best spots in San Carlos—it’s one of the best taquerias in the entire Bay. It’s the kind of place you keep coming back to because they do everything right: flavor, portions, price, and service.
📍 Location: Downtown San Carlos – walkable, family-friendly, and always buzzing.

Read morePretty disappointing. Geared more for tourists and the business crowd. I should have known when I walked in and everybody's in suits and ties and its only gringos like me ordering. Ordered a quesadilla and burrito. Quesadilla was made on a really small tortilla. I'm used to it coming on a large burrito tortilla. Burrito was gross. The rice tastes like Campbells tomato soup. As with any chain Taco shops they don't know how to fold them properly so all the meat is on one end and the beans and everything else is on the other end. This Steak burrito oddly was filled with huge chunks of carrots the size of playing dice, massive slivers of half cooked onions and I think pineapple peas and wax beans or something similar looking. 2/3 of the "meat" burrito was veggies for filler. Very bizarre sweet flavor it's also kind of gross to eat because you have these long slimy onions and some sort of other tubular vegetable and then these really hard crunchy carrot cubes. All around an unpleasant meal. Service was nice but pretty slow. I'll stick to the Taco truck on the corner on El Camino and park. Tacos Al...
Read moreTerrible in every category. I never write reviews but I feel it’s important to warn future customers of the experience they are likely to get if they come to this restaurant.
I’ve been coming here consistently for over 10 years and its progressively got worst. In the last couple years things have really went completely down hill. The service is terrible, they mess up the order EVERY time and when we confronted the manager over the phone she has said on multiple occasions “I watched them make your order and there’s nothing wrong. I will check our video cameras and get back to you but the order was correct.” The first time we never heard back. Tonight it happened again (note we’ve only called when they’ve botched literally every meal on the order) and she gave my wife the same line she gave me a couple months back.
It’s sad to see a once good restaurant not only regress in terms of the quality of food but also in the management and customer service. Will never step foot in this...
