FOOD 3 We ordered a mix of classic dim sum dishes and found most everything to be lightly seasoned and lacking depth.
Siu mai skins were falling apart, and the pork filling, which contained shrimps, tobiko on top and coarsely ground pork, could have used some sweetness - 2.
Har gow skin was translucent and filled with perfectly steamed shrimps with a hint of ginger - 4.
Wu gok Taro turnovers were OK, but lacking punch - 3.
Gee cheung fun skin was silky soft, chopped char siu filling tasted a bit dry perhaps from the day before. Sauce was light and sweet - 3.5 Chicken feet were my favorite of the day with succulent flavor and easy to eat - 4.
Chow mein noodles were OK, with most of the noodles clumped together and drenched in the gravy, and just a few strands on the outer edges crispy - 3. The sauce was light, again lacking overall depth, but at least the sauce wasnât oversalted. Shrimps, scallops and fish were cooked through just enough, so that they werenât raw.
Dessert of Portuguese-style egg tarts were very delicious, flaky, and sweet - 5!
SERVICE 4 Our main server was very attentive, intuitive and responsive filling our teapot with hot water and clearing away empty steamer baskets etc.
Since we sat on the mid-tier floor away from the window, the server has to pull our orders from the carts on the main floor and bring them to our table.
ATMOSPHERE 4 Main floor seating is desired if you can get it. As other reviewers have mentioned, the ocean view and watching planes take off and land can be mesmerizing.
OVERALL 4 We visited on a Sunday at 10:45am and quickly got a 4-top for 3 just before all the crowds arrived. While I wasnât impressed with the food (I found it quite pedestrian and ordinary, but the prices are reasonable for the quality), we did spend a pleasant 2 hours catching up with family, and at no time did we feel hurried or rushed. $80 before tip for 3 light eaters. I would return with...
Read moreThey are not welcome small family on a Sunday dinner. Go somewhere else! We made reservation for 5 people in a few days ahead. Arrived on time at 6:30pm. No table at the main dining room. Tried to squeeze us on a small table actually for 4. One side of the table even behind the wall. This table also stand on a busy entrance area. I do afraid of they will carry hot dishes on my back and walk thru all the time. Itâs a very dangerous spot. We refuse to take it. They asked us go second floor after 20 minutes wait which was fine. We are not picky. The same area has 10 empty tables for 8-10 people. I donât see them fully occupied at leaving. Not sure why they donât seat us in there. Saw people had no reservation arrived after us, party of six, they can look for someone they know who work in there got a table in five minutes at the main dining room.
No one come take our order after 20 minutes being seated on second floor. We ordered five dishes. Each dish need to wait 30 minutes average in between. The fried rice not arrive until 8:30pm. It was over an hour wait. Another unhappy experience was the other two tables had fried rice way ahead of us. They were 6-8 people. The waiters helped us follow up each dish after every single one arrived. They did it a few times for us but no result. DO NOT DIN HERE again if you have less than 8 people. There kitchen only cook for big party. We will not come back again. Go Benihana next door! At least make me...
Read moreIt was my nephew biday. I was looking forward for good foods n service. Sadly we party of 8, we're seated at dark corner table because they claimed this is the only table available. What we did not expect was no one come to take our order, I have to go and look for server to come to our table to get our order. Then we waited n waited for our foods for a long time. What was worst was every dishes and dimsums we ordered came out cold. I wow nerver step in this place again. So when the bill came, I was generous enough to give 10% tip despite no no service given. The wairess looked at the bill and said to me that I need to add more tips up to 15%. I said to thick skin waitress, show me the service if you r expected more tips. But before I left I left $10 cash on the table. Being said we gave them $35 service tip for $255 food bill. The problem with Chinese dimsum restaurant they think bring out the order to your table is the service. The restaurant association need to re- educating the Chinese servers, bring out customers food to the table is not consider service. Sadly all Chinese servers now expecting 15% for no server renter to their customers. A lot of time they automatically add 15% tips to your bill for no service . These people have no concept what it means to give service to their customers. The reason we gave $10 more on top of $25 tips we put in the bill because we saw these people as beggers and not some one who know the...
