I had to attempt to visit the Warf three separate times to be certain this was for real. We (a family of 4) stopped in for an early dinner and when check in at the hostess, she was very pleasant by taking our name and advised there would be a 30-40 minute wait. A quick visual inspection revealed there was not one person at any of the interior tables (it was a very nice day out and all the water or outer edge tables were occupied including most of the bar seating). Not worried about the time, we asked to order a drink and we would have a seat in the waiting area. They stated that alcoholic beverages were not permitted past the hostess desk. And suggested that we take our children (under the age of 11) to the bar and sit and have a drink. . . . Now they have my attention. . . So I asked the young ladies at the hostess desk if that sounded appropriate to have minors sitting at the bar, to which they said to me with just a hint of sarcasm, "well if you want a drink, that's where you will have to go". I suggested that they seat us at one (just one) of the open table all throughout the restaurant floor, we would order a drink and all would be happy. However that was not good enough for their young staff. They explained that they have a small kitchen and they did not want to back up the kitchen. So I gave a little of the sarcasm back by explaining that I'd pinky swore not to order food for at least 30 minutes so as to not back up the kitchen. The staff attempted to explain to me that it was policy NOT to seat people that they were not prepared serve. So again with a larger hint of sarcasm I attempted to feed it right back and offer a slight bit of business sense. . . and suggested that they seat us at a table, we could order a drink or two and generate business because as anyone knows with kids at the table, they too will drink the chocolate milks and/or lemonades right down needing a second or even third. Not to mention the two or three drinks I'm certain I could have polished off before even looking at the menu (that remember, I pinky swore I'd not order for at least 30 min). Only to be brushed off with the demanding sit outside in the playground (without a drink) and wait for out buzzer to be rung 30-40 minutes later as this was their policy and there was nothing that could be done about the "policy". Figuring it was not even worth pushing the subject any further, I handed the buzzer/beeper back and advised I'd be taking my business elsewhere. . . . Thinking they may have the monopoly on location (which they do. . ) there is always somewhere better to go and just 15 minutes away. High Tide in Bensalem PA, just a short trip across the bridge. Physical Address: 1067 Totem Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020. So look at High Tides posting that has received a 5 STAR rating and will get my patronage whenever that mood strikes to sit along the water's edge for an evening out with the family. Good Bye Curtin's "The Warf" Warf...
Read moreTime to break up with Curtin's wharf. It was a good 15 year run but time to move on. You can read my review from 9 years ago (on Yelp) where I stated the food is not good and drinks are expensive but at least it used to be fun. The bartenders Gabby and Em were the best and even some of the bartenders that followed them were ok. However today was the final straw. My SO and arrive, at I guess was 3:55pm, with happy hour starting at 4pm. We order drinks thinking it was happy hour and then the bartender who was leaving asked us to cash out. When we saw that we didn't receive happy hour pricing she looked confused and said well my shift ends at 4pm so sorry. Ok guess it was my fault but stillI tipped her 20%. Now it is 4:15pm and we ordered hummus which is also on the happy hour menu. Since it is a separate check that you get when the food comes out, we look at it and again not happy hour pricing so she has to redo the bill. Still tipped 20%. I then ask the older veteran bartender if happy hour is a new thing (because the staff seemed confused) and she tells me no and they always have it during the week. I then explain to her about the drinks and the first words out of her mouth were 3:58 is 3:58 and the staff doesn't wear watches. Ok then guess my fault again. She did come back later and asked if I wanted another drink but didn't say free drink and then had the audacity to say something like to make up for the $2. Well it was more than $2 difference. So to end this long winded review, if you want lousy overpriced food, overpriced drinks with a bad pour and bad service...
Read moreFirst time at this place. We landed here after my nephews graduation. The wait time was long but it seemed to be short staffed. So understandable. But if you have to wait you can comfortably sit in lounge chairs, sip a drink, and play corn hole or giant jenga. The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was laid back. The bathrooms are clean. My kids enjoyed the freedom they had looking at the water and playing in the waiting area. I seen some Google reviews addressing the staffs attire. Their laid back attire matches the atmosphere. In my opinion, who cares what they’re wearing. They were attentive and friendly. You’re at a dock side restaurant where people in flip flops and bathing suits are arriving in their boats. Now the food…it was good! The fries were crispy, ribs fall off the bone, and my kids appeared to thoroughly enjoy their hotdogs and my husband barely finished his burger which was pretty hefty. Definitely try the street corn dip. I had the jerk chicken bowl. It was really good! I’ve had better Caribbean food but this meal was not bad at all. The jerk gave it just enough spice without overloading and the coconut rice paired well with it. The mangoes really set the dish off. The best part about this experience was being able to enjoy dock side seating on the water without having to drive to the Jersey shore. We live in Philly so heads up, if you leave after 9pm. The bridge gets very congested going back over. Other than that I really have no complaints. We...
