After our first attempt to go to Bricksworth the owner reached out and asked us to give them a second chance. With the busy schedule of club softball, we did not get a chance to go again until last night. I do love the modern feel of the inside of this restaurant. I also loved the fact they have a great patio section if eating outside is your thing. We sat and got our order in soon after we got to our seats. Two pizzas and two orders of wings was what we gave and then sat back eager for our food to arrive. I took this as a chance to wander around the restaurant, taking in the great bar section where you can see the area where they make their beer. Once back at our table our food arrived and it was all incredible. Cool ranch dorito dry rub was super tasty and the garlic parm tenders were out of the park. The pizza was the high point though, detroit style deep dish with nice crispy edges and plenty of topping to go around. When I ordered my daughter scoffed at me and said, "Seems like a lot of food dad" but we ended up only taking two pieces of pizza home. The food was just that good and it was great to sit with my family and enjoy everything before my son heads back to college and school starts up again. After an initial bad impression I am super happy we went back to give these guys a second chance. Everything about our night was enjoyable and we will be making a point to go back sooner than later!
Was pretty excited to try these guys for the first time and chose to go on Fathers Day. Went at 6:30, which seems like a pretty normal time to go have dinner. Upon entering the restaurant there was a sign that said grab menus and seat yourself, oh but we have no pizza. I thought this was a joke but when I talked to a server they kind of laughed at me and said yup, no pizza tonight. Seeing I had never been here before I thought this was some sort of inside gag but when I asked a second server they laughed and said the same thing. I guess it was the laughing that prompted me to reach out, planning a family dinner is not always the easiest and to go to a place that specializes in pizza only to be told there is none was kind of jaw dropping. I am not sure if this happens a lot with these guys but having some sort of online heads up would be great so families like mine don't just show up only to have to find another...
Read moreCame for the chicken wings, and they were very good. The Dry Rub was the highlight (with a lemon wedge), and we also had the Buffalo and the Honey Sriracha. The chicken itself was cooked very nicely, the crispiness of the skin varied by flavor. The current chicken wing shortage is definitely driving prices upward right now, but splitting a dozen wings between two people isn't so bad, and will leave you plenty full.
Beer! It is a beer company after all. Their house beer was good, and they do have a decent number of unique brews, but I was hoping for more variety. During the cold Minnesota winter months I would have hoped for more than 1 dark beer in the rotation. Otherwise there were predominantly hoppy options, some European styles (pilsner, oktoberfest, gose) so there is definitely variety.
We did not try the Detroit style pizza, which looks good so we'll be back for that and I will update this review when that happens.
Interior & Accommodations - frankly it's a bit plain. They've added a couple mid-size TV's near the bar area but otherwise there's really nothing on the walls and not much in the way of décor, aside from a couple small tree planters. The indoor space itself is large with mostly metallic seating, though there are some couches if you just want to chill for a while with a beverage. Otherwise there's not a lot of reason or comfort to stick around.
Washrooms / Bathrooms - I'll say this with a grain of salt, but other business owners need to take note here. This is one of the only places that has automated faucets/soap dispensers/paper towels. and a trash can near the door so you can easily use the paper towel on the door handle and dispose of it. This really shouldn't be that revolutionary, but most places only have 1 or 2 out of the 3 things automated, which makes the other ones completely irrelevant. Thank you, Bricksworth. Bad news is despite the physical space of this establishment, there are actually only 3 toilets (men's / women's / neutral) so I wouldn't necessarily want to be there on a busy weekend night and have to wait. There are multiple hand-washing stations outside the toilets that provide some flexibility for diners to clean up without having to go...
Read moreI popped in yesterday after quite some time since my last visit...shame on me. I was greeted by new to me beertender, Joe. He was friendly, chatty and very helpful. It was our first MUGGY day of the season so he steered me to the low ABV Wasting Away Mexican Lager. Then I asked tulip or pint? Joe stating this weather is a pint day. He wasn't wrong and the refreshingly light beer hit the spot!! My first time in February 2021 a fellow in our group ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sriracha pizza and offered everyone a slice. I stated under Dr's post surgery orders I should abstain from pizza. He convinced me to have a super small slice... it was so delicious and didn't upset my stomach!! If I came in w my appetite I would likely order the Happiest Meal pizza or Cross Your Heart. LL he pizzas are good but those two have been favorites. The beer? Never had a bad one. Their current brewer is female Solveig. Who I found to brew my new favorite high ABV beer, Unexpected Delays. It's an 11.5% Imperial Stout but watch yourself that IS is a smooth Sipper!! The other patrons have also always been friendly when I make conversation w them. Bricksworth checks all the boxes... delicious beer, good selection of delicious pizza and wings, comfortable, well spaced out tap room, pretty fantastically rad and friendly beertenders, along w easy parking....makes Bricksworth a great stop!! I noticed yesterday that the wood wall behind the bar had random trinkets on it, so I inquired? Joe said it started out w putting a few things up but has now evolved to a Misfit Toy wall. Noted and I've already set aside a dolphin keychain to request be added to it. Thanks Bricksworth for a refreshing beer to kick off summer poured by friendly beertender Joe, looking forward to my next...
