I was on the hunt for yet another Vietnamese restaurant. This place is a hole in the wall and smaller cafe. It is very authentic. We went for supper and found 2 large groups of Vietnamese people dining.
We ordered the appetizer Bánh bột chiên or egg with fried rice cakes accompanied with my favorite pickled veggies. It's my 2nd time having this dish. It's like a yummy omlette, and it's hard to believe that the rice cakes aren't meat. The only thing to improve on this dish was to cook it a bit longer or use a lid. It was a bit raw and runny of egg whites on the top. It made me a bit queasy.
Then we shared the grilled pork banh mi. It was delicious! We also shared the Nui Xào Bò Lúc Lắc or pasta with beef. It was pretty good. I was expecting it to be more like chow fun or pad see ew. The flavor was on point, I just don't care for the pasta. I'm glad to venture and try new things. I also wanted pho, but I know I can't eat that much. I ordered a cup of the broth, and that was delectable.
The manager or owner was very friendly and chatted us up. He was telling us about the hot pot deal. Not many places offer that where I live, but that's a neat option. The service was excellent. I was checking out their fridge, and he gave us complimentary homemade coconut jello. What a nice gesture! Thanks for the tasty treat! Check them out and support...
Read moreMy friend bought me and my daughter dinner from here last night and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. I asked them to make me shrimp and chicken with mixed vegetables in white sauce instead of the brown which is ok but I prefer the white... and the cashier wasn't aware of what "white sauce" was at first but asked the cooked and he knew exactly what to do and the food came out yummy! My only suggestion would be to cook the vegetables a tad longer as they were a bit firm still and the chicken a bit less as it was a tiny amount overcooked but honestly... the flavor was bomb and the whole meal was AMAZING and an awesome deal. The shrimp fried rice was yuuuumy. I usually order from Crystal Jade and have for years but their service has become HORRIBLE over the years so this new place Pho Real has now become my new Chines and Pho "go to" spot and is closer to home and has waaaay better service than the other place. I am very happy I tried them. They are very nice and I hope they stay...
Read moreWas pressured for a tip while paying for starters but the food was absolutely horrible on top of it. The rice was old and dry, the sesame chicken was dry and chewy, the egg rolls smelled and tasted rotten and had a terrible mushy texture. I paid $90 for 4 orders to feed my family dinner and gave a $10 tip for carry-out but when I called back to ask if I could return the three remaining full orders of chicken and egg rolls they declined. They offered to remake the food but at this point the egg rolls ruined it for me to eat there again. I’m not asking for a free meal, we have all the horrible food ready to return but I guess I will chalk this up as a loss. Hopefully your experience is better that ours. And for the record, we are not picky eaters. I was starving an will generally eat anything and so will my wife, sister and our kids. I’m very disappointed with how they handled it...
