Don Chon (formerly Taco Chon) is the best place I've found to get Mexican food around Burnsville. I'm from Phoenix, and I had great Mexican food there, so this reminds me of home. Everything is priced well and there there is a great variety. We eat here almost every Friday and love it. My favorite is always the Chipotle Chicken Burrito that you can get grilled or have it regular for $10.75. My wife's favorite is the Birria Taco Plate with consome for $12.50. Pro Tip: They have a salsa bar for no additional cost, so fill up on what you need to eat there or to go. The mild salsa has a sweetness to it and is not very spicy. The Medium is not too spicy, but is really flavorful. The Hot is a creamy and spicy sauce that has a little delayed heat. My favorite is to fill up a cup of Medium salsa and put a tiny amount of Hot on the top. I mix it around and it's perfect for me and has great taste.

First time here and I’m glad we finally tried it. The best part? Love the atmosphere, music and service. Very friendly staff! And our food was out quick. I got birria tacos and I liked them. Also, the salsas were good! I loved the one labeled “hot” and that there’s a little self service area for the salsa so you can grab what you want and they are all labeled. But the absolute best part?! They have vegan options, something I have personally never seen at a Mexican restaurant. The worst part? My parents said their carne asada tacos were mid. They got carne asada and lengua (tongue). I want to try other things on the menu so I’d be back. My dad said the lengua was much better then the carne asada too. Big parking area as well.

My family and I come here a lot. And the food is top tier. They usually get the Chimichanga and love it. I can't because I have no self control and will eat it all in one sitting lol. I get the Nachos locos and it is unexplainable how good it is 😋! Nachos are my favorite, so I make them at home because no place can get them right. BUT THIS PLACE!! 😙👌mwah, chef kiss! this place gets it right!! My cousin also likes their chicken tenders with fries. He says they just get it right lol. 10/10 would eat again 😋. Bonus the workers are really nice ! And the place is very clean. I feel like they are always cleaning when I get there lol

I generally get this as a last minute meal on the way home and this is my go-to restaurant for hispanic food. It is delicious, very affordable, and I would give it six stars if I could!

Even though I have never eaten in the restaurant, and despite a ten-ish minute drive afterward, the food is absurdly good. (Someday I'm going to eat it there and may never leave.) I find myself craving the sublime chimichanga a minimum of once a week. Each time I get one I ask whomever is preparing it what their favorite meat is and how they like it. I have never once been disappointed. Embarrassingly, they are so good that I haven't been able to bring myself to order anything else just yet. My partner has had the burrito, nachos locos, and street tacos and she has said they were all delicious. Is it "health food"...yeah, probably not - but I really don't care. Even when I'm done eating what I'll admit is a...um, substantial meal, I feel nothing but satisfaction with my life choices. (They even put up with my eager, though poorly executed, attempts at speaking Spanish.)

Everything is made to order while you wait at the counter. The staff are super friendly and happy to make suggestions. In fact, I would happily recommend simply going in, picking a menu item, and requesting that they make it how they like it. You can order ahead if you prefer, but they are so fast that it doesn't really save very much time.

Did I mention the chimichanga? Good god, is it delicious. (I think I am going to go and get one...

**Lowered to 1 star -- I picked up my order at the exact time your online system stated the food would be ready (placed 6:07-6:35 pickup). I live a 5 min drive from this location and arrived right at 6:35. Respectfully, even if the food had sat a little longer, that does not explain overcooked pork and undercooked rice. Be accountable for the food you are serving, acting like I'm showing up late for pickup when that is not true. We will not be coming back.

My wife and I used to order take out from this location often, back when it was called Taco Chon but haven't in a long while (more than a year since we last ordered). We felt like giving it a try again and wow the food quality went wayyy downhill. We got carnitas, pork pastor, and a pork belly taco. In all cases the pork was bone dry and jerky like in texture, almost like it was from days ago and reheated. Much of our rice was completely undercooked, still hard/crunchy. Lettuce and tomato were wilted and about to turn. Neither of us came close to finishing our meals. I swear they used to make tortilla chips by hand and fry them, now it's low quality stale restaurant chips. I remember loving the food last time we had it, and the prices used to seem really reasonable. Can't say that is true today. I read this place is recently under new management, I hope you guys read this and course correct please. We likely won't be back any time soon....

I've been here several times, and let me tell you, this is not only a severely needed spot in Burnsville, but it is welcomed with open arms by this local. We need more authentic taquerias here, and this place doesn't disappoint. In fact, it supersedes expectations. I've had everything on the menu already, and I will happily recommend everything. If I had a preference, though, I'd recommend their taquitos with the hot avocado salsa. That is delectable and unforgettable. I would seriously eat their pinto beans by the spoonful. I have seldom been to places where their beans alone are so flavorful, creamy, and perfectly chewy. They are phenomenal.

Not only is the food amazing, but the prices are insanely good as well. The service is even better. The people there are so friendly, kind, and welcoming. At one point in time, they forgot to put foil under my taquitos, so the plastic container melted a bit, and not only did they profusely apologize, but they gave me a full refund, which I said was not necessary at all, yet they insisted. They are fantastic, and their food is even better. Get the Al Pastor, too. You're making a mistake by not...
