India Palace Grill — Restaurant in Burnsville

We were in town from Canada and were craving Indian food. Upon looking at the reviews of this place, we had high expectations of the quality of food as well as their service. The reason for my one star rating is that the restaurant closed at 10pm and we walked in between 9:15 and 9:20 looking to be seated. At first, even though two of the employees had seen us walk in, it seemed like they had a disappointing look on their face (probably thinking "not another customer" ). After waiting around for a good five minutes even though they were not busy at all, someone finally came to greet us and told us that they were not accepting customers anymore because they accept their last table at 9:25. What restaurant stops accepting customers almost 40 minutes before closing time? Plus we had technically made it before their last call. The staff was rude and even after telling them that we were there to specially try their restaurant they refused to take us. After a couple minutes of argument, they finally decided to seat us. But the whole time we were there we felt rushed and we were not treated nicely. There were other people still eating their food while we quickly finished our food and left right at 10. They should learn a thing or two about customer service. There food was alright, wasn't the best but wasn't the worst either. I wouldn't recommend this place simply based on the service we got. Maybe they were in a bad mood, but that is still not an excuse to treat...

12/18/2022 - my friend and I went here because we had a recommendation. It was kind of hard to find the location because it was in the strip mall right off the highway and tucked in the back corner. That's alright we found it anyway. When we walked it, I was surprised if how clean it looked. The restaurant looked updated and very clean. We also knew it was clean because at one point a server brought out the vacuum to clean up a mess of the table behind us. Every table gets new linen after the customers leave. The servers were on point as far as ordering and getting the food out, though my friends and I thought at one point that they didn't want to check us out because we had to waive them down for the boxes and checks or maybe they were just busy. In either case, it turned out well for us because we were taking a lot and the servers may have known that and let us take our time. Every time we asked for something they got it right away. I think the servers were very good. The food was delicious. It's a bit on the salty side and very flavorful. Every dish had its own taste 😋. The presentation and portions were prefect to share. We did order quite a bit for two people so there were tons of leftovers. We wanted to try a lot of the dishes so we ordered the platers. There are two sides of the menu and it took quite a bit of reading. I still think it had a good variety...

First off, we have been coming here for the lunch buffet for a long time and the food is always excellent. Due to the pandemic we ordered take out. We ordered over the phone and when we arrived to pick it up, noticed that one of the entrees were missing from the order and receipt. We had to pay for that separately and wait another 15 minutes for it to be ready. When we got home and unpacked the bag, we found that the rice pudding (which was on the receipt) was also missing. We called and they said they would make us the pudding plus one for free the next time we came in. We went back 2 days later to get the pudding and ordered a couple of other dishes as well. The man who took our in person order brought out our food when it was ready. Now, our bad for not double checking, but we got home and realized they gave us someone else’s order completely. We called and they said they realized the mistake and were making our food now and we could come pick it up. The restaurant is in Burnsville. We live about 20 minutes away in Shakopee, so after another 40 minute round trip, we could finally eat. So yes, their food is great. Customer service is reasonable.
