Burnhaven Library — Attraction in Burnsville

Had a really good experience yesterday! I brought two of my nieces (5 & 7) and one of my nephews (2) up here to let them pick out some books. They had a blast!

There's an entire kids corner with plenty of books for all reading levels plus toys and tables for them to sit and read or color. The girls were having so much fun looking for books to bring home and my nephew was having the time of his life haha he was so excited to be there.

There was this absolutely lovely librarian who helped us throughout our visit and even helped my older niece get her first library card! She and another librarian were very helpful with finding the random books all the kiddos were asking for too and they did so with a smile on their face.

My nephew, for instance, really wanted a firetruck book. I looked everywhere and once we asked the librarians, they found 4 different options in less than 30 seconds! My nieces even felt comfortable approaching the librarians on their own to ask questions as well. I wish I had gotten their names because they both made our experience that...

Was interested in getting my niece and I a library card today. After the woman behind the desk took my drivers license and had me start to fill out my niece’s info she then asks me if I am the mother of my niece and I told her I was the aunt. She then says that my drivers license says I live in Hennepin County so I should go there to check out books. She told me to stop filling out our info that we could not get a library card at this location. My niece is 7 years old and started to cry. She is having a hard time reading at school and wanted to check out two books today that she could practice reading with after dinner. Will never come to this location again. She then proceeded to tell us since we couldn’t check out any books there were books for sale by the front door. NO THANKS. Very disappointed. The highlight of my niece’s day today was to go to the library after school. She cried herself to sleep on the way home. Horrible experience. I grew up going to this library. Just reminds me of why I am glad I moved out...

First time visiting this library (we are from Florida). Highly disgusted with the children’s section. No quality literature, only woke propaganda. The children’s picture book section is small and limited to this junk. No wonder kids these days are more and more illiterate. Any book that looked decent had poor language (very basic: no challenging sentence structure or vocabulary, the way classics are written, assuming children are not capable of comprehension). So glad I did not bring my daughter in on my first and last visit. I will continue buying classic, wholesome, well-written literature for our home library here. Our libraries in Florida, in comparison, are far superior - no inappropriate materials and quality literature....
