It’s been about 13 years since I boycotted Best Buy completely. I figured every so often I’d give them the opportunity to gain back my business by making up for selling me a busted tv and offering me zero compensation. About 10 years ago I was in the market for a 55” Samsung television. I knew exactly the model I wanted so I patiently would keep an eye on it and wait for it to go on sale as I had previously noticed occasionally the price would drop. Finally the day came it dropped to $1200 reg price was $1450. I purchased it from the Burnsville Best Buy got it home and placed it in my bedroom closet. I didn’t take it out of the box as the plan was to paint the walls first then mount the tv stand and then mount the tv to the wall mounted tv stand. About 3 weeks had past by the time we got the walls painted and the day came to mount the tv stand and tv. I got the wall stand mounted opened the tv box and mounted the tv to the wall stand. I turned on the tv and it looked like a rainbow of colors and an obvious spot that absorbed some type of impact. The outer layer of the screen wasn’t cracked but the inert layer was definitely damaged. I immediately called the store and they said to bring it in. I put it back in box and brought to store. At the store the manager looked at the tv then looked at my receipt and said I’m sorry but you had 3 days to return the tv and we won’t be able to help you. I pleaded with her for 30+ minutes explaining the situation. The stickers were still on the tv. The remote was still sealed in the package. It was obvious the tv had not been used and that I wasn’t just trying to return a tv that I damaged after owning it for 3 weeks. They did absolutely nothing except recommending to call the manufacturer. We’ll after speaking with the manufacturer, 3 managers at 3 different Best Buy locations, Best Buy corporate, filing a complaint with the bbb. I ended up paying $1200 for a worthless tv. I even called a repair shop and they quoted me $1000 to repair. If you made it this far in my story I recommend not leaving Best Buy with any purchase until you’ve opened the box to verify the item works. Or better yet shop at a store that will stand behind the purchase like Costco. I know with 100% certainty the tv Best Buy sold me was damaged when I bought it. Unfortunately due to dishonest people that do take advantage of stores the store managers I spoke with chose to either assume I broke the tv or just decide it would be better for me to take the $1200 loss then Best Buy. Considering in the past 10 years I’ve spent tens of thousands on items I would had typically bought at Best Buy they’ve gotten zero of my business and will end up taking the bigger loss. At this point it’s the principal of the matter. Btw. Costco has an amazing return policy and...
Read moreI give three not two just because they have good prices, though their price match is limited they do not match all amazon prices just certain ones. I have had a love hate with the store for over twenty years now. Back in the day they refused my check for a dvd player when they were the rave and said I had too many checks written. I said they were all good and none have bounced so what are you talking about, I have a wife and three kids and we write checks for everything. So they refused my, one embarassing,, two annoying and three wtfuzz no bad checks written and I was refused. So we went to sears where they were more than happy to take my check. I boycotted Best Buy for twenty years except my wifes anniversary car stereo I bought and had installed by them, like I said can't beat their deals sometimes. I've just recently decided to give them a second shot and I found the staff in the New Bursville Location, to be uncaring, very ignorant on their inventory and products themselves, and just plain unpleasant to deal with. They point instead of bringing you to products you can't find and need help finding, a finger point from a manager as to where the area is I could find the cable I needed, still couldn't find it with his great pointing system. I on another occasion was trying to find the cheapest best printer that had affordable ink afterward, and talk about clueless, spoke to at least too reps and they had no idea about anything to do with their printers. I asked questions is Brother the better deal for the long run since it has toner cartridge, answer I don't really know, what's your cheapest printer well these are on sale, my girlfriend said well these over here are cheaper, so just tried to sell me a fairly expensive printer that was on sale, when they had cheap ones at other section. I don't want to go on I'd rather drink my morning coffee right now, but almost every experience I have with this company is a bad one, hope you have better luck, they do have good prices though and it's brick and mortar so returns...
Read moreDon't shop here. Worst customer service. Stopped in to buy an iPhone 11 at 8:45pm on Saturday night, 9/28/19. We asked the clerks at the front desk if we could buy a new iPhone. They happily sent us over to cell phone sales. A sales associate came over to greet us. He asked us what phone we were looking for and what carrier we were with. I told him we were with Sprint. I'm not sure why but his body language changed. He looked at his watch and said he could not activate a cell phone after 8:30pm. It was 8:45pm. I told him we wanted to buy the iPhone before the sale price changed for the next day. He said he could't do that. We spent five minutes discussing the process, me questioning why we couldn't start the process and go a few minutes past their 9pm closing time. It was now 8:50. He said it would take at least 15 minutes to activate the phone, and it was now too late to do that now.
As we were leaving the store, the clerks at the front desk asked why we were leaving. I told them the cell phone associate refused to activate a new phone for us. They asked why. I told them he said it was too late to do that. Both of the clerks made confused faces, similar to our own, not understanding why we were unable to purchase and activate a new phone.
I asked my kids when we left if they thought the associate was rude. They said he was. They said he clearly wanted to be somewhere and didn't want to help us so close to the end of his shift.
I work retail. I've sat in the store after closing time assisting customers numerous times. Anyone in retail can testify that they do this. It comes with the territory for working in retail.
I live in Burnsville. I have shopped at the Burnsville Best Buy store often. I will not shop the...
