Our family drove through Butte today on our way back home from vacation. We’ve never had pasty’s before so thought we’d try them out! My husband and I ordered pasty’s while our kids ordered a cheeseburger, double cheeseburger and a patty melt.
The pasty’s were delicious, hot- and filling! Something very unique and different than anything I’ve ever eaten. The coleslaw that mine came with was really good also.
Our kids loved their food and finished everything on their plates.
The restaurant was clean. The service and hospitality were excellent and I LOVE that we supported a local business that clearly looked like it had been loved and kept alive by the community for many years.
Thanks again for the delicious meal! Love...
Read moreI was in town and heard about this place, so I thought I would try it out. The restaurant and service were outstanding. They do offer other food items besides the pasty, but the pasty seems to be what this place is known for and that's what I tried. It's definitely a hearty meal since it's just bread, potato, and chunks of beef. I opted to try it with the gravy which was probably a mistake because it made it extremely salty. They seem to use some generic powdered gravy mix (think McCormick) and they even sell it at the counter. If I had to do it over again, I would have skipped the gravy. If you are in town and want to try out something like the miners used to eat, it's definitely worth a...
Read moreWe visited here to experience the history and culture of butte, and while the staff here were so welcoming, helpful and friendly, I found the pasty a little disappointing. They are pre made and it was simply microwaved to heat it up, leaving the pastry soft and a bit chewy. The filling was mostly potato, with a bit of meat and onion, which Im sure is how it was back in the mining days but I found the lack of meat disappointing, but respected that's probably exactly as they were made many years ago. I think a great improvement would be to get some kind of pasty warmer to keep them hot rather microwaving them so we can at least enjoy the crunchy...
