Mamma Mineo's Pizza — Restaurant in Byron Township

I went here with two friends for an early Sunday dinner, and at first, we were worried we had come to the wrong place/they were closed because no one was in the parking lot of this tiny strip mall yet, but then we realized they had only just opened. (I love that they don't open until 4pm Sundays! It shows how much they value family.) One of my friends and I both have a Gluten allergy, and we were eager to see that they not only had a Gluten free crust option for their pizzas, but for breadsticks as well! (Their menu also lists GF pasta and subs, but we didn't try those so I can't speak to that). The pizza was AMAZING. I loved the Rosy's Italian. They had thinner, crispier crust as is typical for GF pizza, but it was flavored and seasoned well! The breadsticks (think a seasoned, super-cheesed flatbread) were also fantastic. We were also impressed with the size of the pizzas and the size of the sub our non-GF friend ordered.

My negative feedback is that although the young man running the counter (probably the son of the owner?) did a great job, more thorough, professional communication such as wear to get our waters would have been better. It felt like he and the other girl assisting were in a rush and distracted when delivering/clearing our food (they were pretty busy). I also thought it was odd that a movie was playing on a TV behind the counter, and both of them kept looking up to watch it. Even so, they still gave us their attention for our orders/ asking us how our food tasted. Being that this seems to be a very much family-owned-and-run business, these are minor quirks- but it is an opportunity to become even better!

Update on reply; thank you for taking months to get back to me. Thank you for stating how far in advance you received the order before my arrival. The added time that I waited plus your staff member bragging about his tips was ridiculous. While you seems to think I am the only one annoyed by your ridiculous wait times your sadly mistaken. I will never eat here. I also quit DD bc of places like yours. Get your own delivery drivers if you're going to continue with your slowness for these types of orders. The poor DD drivers don't get paid more for waiting long periods of time, they get paid whatever the person tips plus the measly base rate DD pays. So next time you're wasting your customers time, think of ways to improve it so people like myself don't get annoyed with your lack of efficiency. Some of us are trying to make a living!

Update; end of August and service is still horrible, with horrible wait times. DD only pays it's drivers a base pay of $2, we make our money off tips. When we wait for long times it annoys us because we are literally losing money by the minute because you fail to be efficient!!!

They did not plan accordingly for mother's Day. They did not staff properly and are making you wait over an hour for your order. Customer service was horrible today teen bragging about his tips behind the counter. Management yelling at customers who are tired of waiting. And you are not getting paid to wait. They don't have the luxury of your tip. I almost gave 3 stars but added a 4th simply because I had a phenomenal experience our first time.

So we ordered the Mamma’s special sub and Spicy pizza a couple weeks ago. I’m not kidding when I say every day since then I’ve wanted to order from them. The pizza was phenomenal, and the sub was indescribable. Perfect amount of ingredients, tasty sauce and the bun was other world like. Lightly toasted, and buttery delicious. It was like the outside was lightly coated with a butter garlic sauce. It was so fantastic.

So we placed a large 3 family order tonight and we’ve been hyping up this sub to everyone we know. We get home and open the subs and was sorely disappointed. The crust wasn’t buttered like last time and it was actually quite burnt. Ingredients were still really good but the sauce wasn’t spicy like before. It turned the 5 star sub into a rather dismal 3 stars.

I hope to convince the better half to give this place another try but I can tell you if we get subs like today again, we won’t be making many trips to Byron Center for Mamma’s...
