We can’t review the food, the service or the ambiance because we never got a chance to enter the place.

My wife has been wanting to go here for awhile so I went to their website to make a reservation for Valentine’s Day.

On their website they have an entire section explaining why they don’t take reservations and specifically mention getting burned on Valentine’s Day.

They explain that they now have a waitlist option. They explain it as essentially you show up and if they don’t have any availability, they put you on the waitlist and you can leave and go shopping or whatever, and you will be notified when your table is ready. Pretty typical for most restaurants nowadays.

We knew they would still likely be busy on Valentine’s Day so we planned to go early-planning to eat at around 5 to hopefully beat the evening rush.

I called on our way in to see if we could be put on the waitlist, if needed and was told that they don’t do a waitlist and that a reservation was required. They had one available for 8:30. We took it, but ended up cancelling at around 7:00 because we were too hungry and went somewhere else.

I asked the person on the phone, who was very polite and apologetic, about taking reservations when their website said that they did not and specifically mentioned Valentine’s Day and he said, “sorry, our website is way out of date.”

This is just not acceptable when people rely on that information. We likely will try it another night but this experience has left me with a negative opinion that they will have...

DO NOT EAT HERE! You will be very disappointed! We were celebrating Mother’s Day by having dinner as a family. All of the steaks we ordered medium and all arrived to our table well done. We sent the steaks back and one came out as the same steak cooked even longer sent it back again asking for a new steak. My Mom’s prime rib came back still well done and so fatty and blubbery it looked absolutely disgusting. We told the general manager that her prime rib looked disgusting and he told us we were being rude and he had zero tolerance for rude and if we didn’t stop being rude he was going to kick us out of the restaurant. I never received my new filet. We requested the bill minus the meals we did not receive. The total was $189. I was so hopeful that this would finally be great restaurant in Cadillac. It’s such a shame. We will never be back. The General Manager needs some lessons in hospitality and what customers expect and should receive at a fine dining establishment. He is far too immature and inexperienced to be the General Manager of this type of restaurant. The chef could also use some classic culinary training. Our Mother’s Day was ruined by our experience.

UPDATE: I posted about our experience on their Facebook page and they blocked me. I guess the truth hurts them too much. More proof of the immaturity and lack of experience the general...

I ordered a lemonade from the menu. Waitress said we're out of lemonade. I ordered salmon. She said sorry we're out of salmon. I asked about the swordfish. Sorry out. Oh ok, What do you have that's gluten free? She recommends the crab stuffed walleye. I say ok I'll try it. Really wanted the salmon .. I asked for the house salad with NO croutons .again.. gluten free please. We also ordered appetizers. Hour goes by no food. Waitress comes back said oops they gave our food to someone else. they'll start it over. She brings out the walleye and it had the skin on floating in water Covered with a weird sauce. NOT stuffed with crab or stuffed with anything. It seemed to be microwaved?? It was soggy and slimy. It was the grossest thing I've ever seen or tried to eat. My husband couldn't even eat it and he likes most things. It was so gross. $105.00 bill , got nothing we wanted and the food we did get was not edible. On top of that they put croutons on my salad! At the end of everything we were just going to leave when the table who came after us ...a man says to his table mate... How's your salmon? Like the salmon they said they were out of?! How did they get salmon but we got microwaved wet fish skin in sauce??! Gordon Ramsey needs...

Firstly the food was amazing! It's about time Cadillac got a fine dining restaurant. It's the perfect date night place in the Cadillac area, and far exceeds The Timbers. Secondly the reservation slots seem to be flexible in a good way. I put down a reservation for 6 but, I was mistaken as there was seven of us. They were happy to accommodate my party and went out of their way to help with setting up our table. Lastly, and keep in mind they are still brand new, the service was slower than a sloth. I understand it can be overwhelming for staff, but I feel like they could have been more prepared in the waitstaff department. I waited 15 minutes for my side dishes to arrive after I got my main dish. In conclusion 3.5 out of 5 but, I still highly recommend. Take your significant other here for date night or have a family meal. This place will only get better i think.

What a treat after tenting and 4-wheeling for a weekend! It's not just that I didn't have to cook over an open fire. Even if I'd been staying at a luxury resort, the Dockside Inn Restaurant was a perfect way to end a trip. The wait staff was wonderful (Spencer was amazing!), the food was truly impressive and the ambiance, well, it just doesn't get much better than sitting in the shade under mature trees on a deck overlooking the lake. We paired the New Zealand Haymaker Sauvignon Blanc with the calamari and Ahi Tuna appetizers. Delish!!! That was some of the most tender calamari I've ever sampled and the dipping were devine. I'll definitely be back!
