Heads up! Yume is NOT for a fun night out, celebrations or anyone who is looking to have a good time with their friends.
Our group was excited to try this new spot, everything was okay until it wasn’t. The food was good, but not out of this world. I do highly recommend the eggplant. This review is more so for the staffs mishandling of a situation and goods not rendered.
The restaurant started to empty out around 7:30pm on Friday night. It was 4 of us having dinner, talking, laughing and hanging out. The guys shared a bottle of saki and the girls, we had 1 cocktail each. We were having a nice time until came a table of 3 older age ladies who scowled as they were seated directly behind us. We were unbothered by their remarks.
Shortly after, us girls ordered a 2nd cocktail while eating and were very confusingly denied. A staff member then came over to our table and asked us to leave without explanation. They abruptly brought the check and would not allow us to finish what we were expected to pay for. Please keep in mind there was absolutely NO warning.
Yes, it was a Friday night and we were having a good time - though we were not rowdy or disrespectful in any manner. In all fairness the guys were a little loud, as they do have big personalities, but it was nothing that couldn’t have been fixed with a little mindfulness had we known we were being disruptive.
Staff could have easily moved the table of miserable ladies who seemed bothered by us from the moment they sat down. It’s important to note that there were 6+ open tables for them to move to, in addition to an entirely different seating area available.
It’s a shame because we are locals here in Calabasas, we frequent Shibuya around the corner about once a week, and as foodies typically spend more than the average guests.
Overall, I do think it’s a nice establishment here in the area though it was highly unnecessary for the staff to take matters to the extreme when their customers are simply enjoying - leading me to believe that despite the full bar this not a place for any...

They also have an excellent selection of sake, making it a dream spot for anyone who appreciates a good pairing.
Now, onto the real star of the show: the sushi. Yume delivers on every level—freshness, flavor, and flawless presentation. Every bite is an experience, from the vibrant citrus roll to the addictive spicy tuna on crispy rice. The seared salmon sushi with truffle oil is an absolute must-try, balancing rich, buttery flavors with a touch of umami perfection. Read moreScary experience. Last night I was having dinner with a group of girlfriends. We have visited this establishment several times. We were seated in the back room with only 1 other party in the room. The other table turned to us multiple times to shush us. Extremely rude especially when we are there for a celebration and are engaging in nothing more than casual laughter. The table completed their meal and left. 5 min after they left, as though phone call had came in from a higher power...2 male employees walked up to our table, handed us our bill and said it's time for you to leave. They stood over us, not giving us any explanation as to what had happened. Complete intimidation, arms crossed, with an aggressive appearance as though they were going to physically remove us from the restaurant. Never in my life have I experienced something like this. We were truly afraid as to what could come next. We had zero understanding of what had happened. In fear, we reached for our wallets, gathered cash, paid the bill without having any time to review the charges and left. All we could think of was someone important did not want us there and we were literally KICKED OUT. We had not even completed our meal. It was 9:30pm. As a group of women, we did not feel safe! What was the purpose of sending 2 large males to our table? Had we been asked to leave prior and did not abide? Had we been asked to change any behavior we were exhibiting? Completely unprofessional...
