The Stand - American Classics Redefined — Restaurant in Calabasas

My first visit of the Stand was at the over 10 years ago at the Encino location. My, oh my, how they have grown in menu items and locations. The menu was originally mostly hot dogs and a few burgers, fries, beer and other drinks. Now they offer all sorts of sandwiches and salads, none of which I’ve ever tried because I’m hooked on the hot dogs.

I’ve been searching for a good Chicago dog and the Stand offers an almost-perfect Chicago dog: natural case dog, mustard chopped onion, chopped tomato, dill pickle slices, neon-green pickle relish, topped with celery salt and sport peppers and served in a soft poppy seed bun. I say almost perfect because there are way, way too much of the toppings. I couldn't even taste the sausage in my bites and the juices from the toppings made the bun soggy. So after two or three bites, the bun keel disintegrated and the entire hot dog imploded. I was left with a big, messy pile on my tray, which I sadly finished with a fork and knife.

Undeterred, on my return visit to the Stand, I asked for a Chicago dog with LIGHT toppings. This foray was much better and what I expected: tasty dog, delicious toppings. I rounded out the meal with some skin-on fries (unsalted so you have add your own) and a soda or beer. Yum. They also make a very tasty chili dog.

The service is good: order and pay at the counter and they bring your food. There is a very good selection of drinks like beer, wine, fresh lemonade, ice tea and a futuristic multi-drink soda fountain. Upd. My second time here. This time I got the same Ultimate Egg burger but this time it was much better - the right pickled onions, melting yolk. It wasnt medium well again - they tend to do everything WELL DONE but it was edible.

Located at the mall in the wealthy neighborhood. Cool looking place with modern and spacious interior. The price was higher than at other Stand locations - $14 vs $16 here for the same burger. My go to is Ultimate Egg and I ate dozens of them to know how they are gonna look and taste. The burger was surprisingly tasty even tho I asked for medium well and they gave me well done - the patty was dry and not a single juice drop was coming out of it. Please stop what you are doing right now and come to The Stand. I’m on the verge of tears right now because of how delectable this burger is.

It’s the single best burger I’ve ever had in my life. And I’ve had thousands of burgers. It’s the Ultimate Egg and it really is. The sweet and tangy pickled onions are pure 🔥🔥🔥!!! Matched with the awesome aeoli sauce which is just lovely and not too Spicey at all! I asked for my Patty medium rare and wow is it perfectly cooked!

The fries are fantastic as well, I’m getting a burger to go because it’s so good.
