Calabasas Coffee House has quickly become my go-to spot whenever I’m in the neighborhood. From the moment you step inside, the place feels calm and welcoming. Low-key lighting, clean décor, and soft background music create an atmosphere that invites you to settle in rather than rush out.
Let’s talk coffee. I’m picky about drip, and theirs hits the mark: a full-bodied cup with balanced acidity that stays smooth from first sip to last. You don’t get that scorched aftertaste you find at bigger chains. If drip isn’t your thing, the baristas pull a beautifully rounded espresso, and the matcha deserves its own praise. They whisk it so the texture stays velvety, and the flavor leans earthy with just a hint of natural sweetness—no syrupy shortcuts.
The practical perks seal the deal. Reliable, fast Wi-Fi makes remote work a breeze, and there are enough outlets along the walls to keep a laptop charged all afternoon. Tables sit far enough apart that conversations stay private, so you can jump on a call without feeling like you’re broadcasting to the room. Even during peak hours the noise level stays low; people chat, but no one competes to be heard.

Read moreHaving worked in Cafe Operations in specialty coffee for a decade, I love trying a bunch of different spots when I travel and seeing all the different atmospheres, foods, coffees and cultures of different brands.
That was not the case on this trip because I appreciated this small shop so much.
The food was convenient and quick to serve while not compromising quality or flavor.
The black coffee was bright and complex without kicking you in the teeth.
The latte ratios were on point leaving no latte too sweet or too milky.
The furniture was comfortable, music was loud enough to appreciate while not drowning out my conversation.
I also have a habit of watching the processes of the cafe and the workflow which can be a problem because I’ll get stressed watching bad workflows/environments. But this was a well oiled machine.

Read moreI came here for an iced coffee, which was good, but the service completely ruined the experience. The lead barista was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She looked visibly annoyed and frustrated, and instead of handling her frustration privately, she was doing it publicly making others and myself uncomfortable. Her reaction was unnecessary and made me feel extremely unwelcome.
There was a clear sense of entitlement in the way she carried herself, which is completely unacceptable in a customer-facing role. If you can’t handle mistakes or issues professionally, then don’t work as a barista. Working in hospitality means treating customers with respect, not making them feel uncomfortable.
The owner was kind, and the younger barista was friendly, but the lead barista’s attitude left a terrible impression. Stay...
