Cantine Winepub — Restaurant in California

Cantine is an exceptional venue and a great and spacious place to host any event! We did our wedding reception at Cantine in November 2023 and hosted 80 guests. Our guests enjoyed the flow of the space. With 80 guests, it didn’t feel crowded one bit. Some were outside on the patio with the twinkling lights, some were cozied by the fireplace, some were dancing on the dance floor, it truly is like hosting in a large beautiful and cozy room without the hassle of hosting and cleaning up. The design of Cantine’s spaces helped guests move around and enjoy everyone’s company better and that’s what we were looking for in a venue. A fancier and beautiful setting where everyone can still feel at home. Also, it’s very affordable! Something you can’t find anywhere in Santa Cruz. Keiki helped us every step of the way and would meet with us and answer all our questions and needs. A special shout out to all the staff and their service! They were all super friendly and hospitable and helped us out the whole time. The food and drinks kept on coming and not one guests felt not taken care of. Our guests all talked how much they loved being there and my husband and I truly got our dream wedding location! It was hands down the best!...

Restaurant Nightmare⚠️

I went to Cantine wine bar yesterday to have a couple celebratory bday drinks and purchase some bottles to go. I’ve been a loyal customer until yesterday when the waitress forgot to run my card. Instead of notifying me, she called the local sushi restaurants around town notifying them that a “brown haired” girl who’s having a “joint bday” with her partner didn’t pay their bill.

Sushi garden in capitola would not serve us bc of this description so I called Cantine to understand what occurred and let them know I’d come back to pay the bill right away.

She told me if I didn’t pay over the phone, she’d call the police. Given that she didn’t run the card the first time, I didn’t trust running it over the phone and wanted proof of physical receipt.

Long story short, it took a multiple request in person to just pay my bill for proof of receipt after they admitted the mistake.

Very disappointing experience last night at Cantine. Arrived with a group of 6 at 9:15pm Friday night. Immediately upon entering the bartender stopped us and said they had already done last call and they were closing. We counted around 15 people still enjoying their drinks and food inside. We came to celebrate and have always know Cantine to stay open later than most other spots in Aptos. To be turned away with a group of 6 people on a Friday night made us feel very unwelcome.
