Denny's — Restaurant in California

I love Denny's, but VERY disappointed in the way were treated at the Manteca CA location tonight... Store #9279

This is the absolute WORST Denny's location I've ever been to, and that includes a Denny's in Nevada I went to that served my entire party of about 15 except me. My husband and I met at a Denny's, so it is a little tradition of ours to visit as many Denny's locations as we can. We have been to MANY Denny's all across Ca, Nv, & Az so far. We have been to this particular one a handful of times and it has always been pretty low on the list of good locations, but after our experience tonight I can officially say it is the WORST. My husband and I decided we'd stop in for some dessert after a movie. From the moment we walked in, staff were rude and inattentive. We were seated pretty quickly and my husband immediately goes to use the restroom where he was followed in by two staff members (a male and a female). They yelled something across to the waitress at the counter to which the waitress yelled back, "He better not be, I'll call the cops!" I assumed something must have happened before we arrived, but ignored the unprofessional yelling by staff. I was surprised when my husband comes out saying the staff followed him into the restroom and harrassed him about smoking in the restroom. (My husband has never smoked a day in his life.) He tried to confront the manager, Justine, about the blatant disrespect from her staff and her response was to ignore his complaints and walk away. My husband then asked her for her supervisors information to which she refused. Her response was flat out, "No. You can call corporate." My husband proceeded to ask for the corporate phone number to which she responded, "Get it on the website." Keep in mind, she's yelling this at my husband from across the diner. Her reasoning was that customers were complaining of the smell of smoke in the bathroom, but had she actually gotten complaints from other customers, it still couldn't have been my husband as we had only just walked into the restaurant. I was in pure shock watching these events unfold right in front of me. Here we are, two paying customers who JUST walked in and are immediately harrassed and yelled at by not only staff, but the manager herself. I've been to Denny's locations that had bad food, slow service, and rude staff, but I have NEVER experienced such horrible treatment. How embarrassing for this establishment that their own manager whom they trust to take good care of their customers and to present themselves with respect and good manners and they have her running the place, yelling at her customers from across the diner and ruining the experience for not only us, but I'm sure everyone who was dining tonight as well. Needless to say, we walked out humiliated and without even getting to order anything. If you love Denny's like I do, go to the Lathrop location instead of this one. I certainly hope nobody ever has to walk into an establishment hoping to end their night with some yummy apple crisp and get treated the way we were tonight. Update. Called when manager was on duty yesterday morning only to be put on hold for 20 minutes and than hung up on. So I called back and he told me he would call me back in two minutes because he was in a meeting. All to which I just kept asking for them to fix my order. But he hung up on me. Never called me back. So i went in to the store later in the day but he was not there and got told only the manger could fix my problem when he was there. So I finally talked to him on phone again and he told me he would write down my name and number and order and I could call in when I wanted it redone. So I call a while ago and same rude "Tony" the employee that yells at his customer, and I told him that the manager told me to call in so they could fix order. To which he replys so rudly to me that he "isn't going to do a damn thing because the manager is only one who can help me when he is present. So I told him he wrote my name and contact info down earlier previous day and he immediately told me no note and to go screw myself... What kind of employee does this to a customer who has frequently purchased from that location. Never once did I speak in ride way to this man or anything. They just wasted my time and money. So it's 100 percent clear they will not fix your order no matter what at this garbage establishment they call a Denny's. This frustrated me so much that I think I am going to stand outside their store with signs to warn people about potential treatment they will get if they step foot into this place. This Tony character also needs to get fired in my opinion but hey when the manager is just as bad I guess the only thing to do is warn others about what could happen if they give them any business. Worst Denny's I have ever been to or ordered from. Ordered food online through their website and picked it up myself, I was handed the bag of food, no thank you or anything for that matter. Got to work and my order was completely wrong plus cold like it had been sitting there for hours... I picked it up at the promised time exactly. So I called in from work so I could get the order fixed and was told that they couldn't do anything at all about it because manager was not available and I had to wait until the next day to even speak with him and SEE if it was possible to get the order fixed because it wouldn't be on the same day. Ridiculous. This is from the same gentleman I saw almost yelling at customers when I picked up my food because they asked about there food and he rudly and loudly while walking away from them saying they were not there before three other people who got there before them and told them to wait or they can go to Denny's in Lathrop a few miles away. This place is a waste of time and money so avoid at all cost. There is a Denny's in Lathrop that's so much better and friendly a few miles...

I arrived at restaurant 9279 with my wife we were seated then I went to the restroom as I walked into the restroom 2 people had walked out as I walked in the floor was soaked and i slipped and almost fell when I made it to a stall I sat down and was immediately yelled at by 2 different people a Male and a female saying "you better not be smoking ciggaretts in there we're gonna call the cops" I responded "that I wasn't but go ahead and call the cops" I do not nor have I ever smoked in my life after i came out of the restroom i asked for the manager, the manager came out of the women's restroom and I explained what had happend and she rudely yelled at me from across the restaurant that two customers complained that the restroom smelled like smoke I asked her for her name as she put her apron on she yelled at me "its Justine see on my name tag" I asked for her managers number and she refused saying she couldn't give it to me I then asked her to call him she yelled at me "that's not gonna happen either because hes out of town your gonna have to call the corporate number " I asked her for the corporate number and she said "no you're gonna have to get it off the website and she stormed away to the back kitchen area slamming through the swinging door after being absolutely humiliated and disrespected my wife and I decided to leave before we even had the opportunity to order our desert which is all we came in for in the first place.
