Walking into El Agave is like stepping into the heart of Mexico City 🌆. The authentic atmosphere, welcoming vibes, and incredible food make this restaurant a true gem in the Sacramento and NorCal area! 🌟 🥤 The Horchata First off, the Horchata was phenomenal. You could immediately tell it was the real deal—rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced with cinnamon. None of that generic powder mix nonsense here! It was a refreshing and traditional drink that paired beautifully with the meal. 🫓 The Chips and Guacamole Next, the tortilla chips were warm, crispy, and seasoned to perfection. Pair them with their guacamole, and you’ve got a match made in heaven. The guacamole was smooth, fresh, and loaded with lime and cilantro flavors. It was one of the best I’ve ever had—simple yet absolutely delicious. 🔥 The RIBEYE Steak & Prawn Fajitas 🥩🦐 Now let’s talk about the star of the show—the RIBEYE Steak and Prawn Fajitas. This isn’t just any steak. They use local, high-quality ribeye, and you can taste the difference! The steak was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It MELTED in my mouth—literally one of the best steaks I’ve ever had at any restaurant, Mexican or otherwise. 🥩✨ The quality was so high, it felt like it came straight out of a top-tier steakhouse, but with a bold Mexican twist that made it unforgettable. The prawns? Plump, juicy, and buttery. 🦐 They were cooked just right, bursting with fresh flavor. Combined with the sizzling bed of sautéed onions, bell peppers, and mouthwatering spices, this dish was nothing short of magical. The flavors were so good, I couldn’t resist licking my fingers! 🤤 The presentation was equally impressive. Served on a sizzling platter, it felt like the fajitas were dancing their way to the table. 🌟 This dish alone is worth the trip to El Agave. 🍹 The Bar On my way to the restroom, I noticed their bar, which features an enormous selection of authentic Mexican tequilas. 🇲🇽 These are rare, high-quality tequilas you won’t find just anywhere. Whether you’re a tequila enthusiast or just want to try something special, this bar has you covered! 💁‍♂️ The Service The service was nothing short of amazing. Our server was attentive, accommodating, and made sure every detail of our meal was perfect. It’s rare to find this level of care, and it made the experience that much more enjoyable. 🌮 Final Thoughts If you’re looking for the best authentic Mexican food in Northern California, look no further than El Agave. From the unbeatable ribeye steak fajitas to the refreshing Horchata and incredible service, this place is the complete package. 🥇 Whether you’re craving a cozy dinner or a night out with friends, El Agave delivers a taste of Mexico that you won’t forget. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend—10/10! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yummy food! They have BOMB Taco salads! I love the Al Pastor. The service is swift and friendly. The restaurant is clean, including the restrooms. There's also a full bar to order from or even hang out at. Editor's note: I went back yesterday, over a year after my first visit, and the food was disappointing. This time, I ordered a combo plate with a chili relleno and two flautas. The flautas were good, but that's it. It's pretty hard to screw those up. The rice tasted like dirt. So did the beans. I don't think they were made the traditional way, with lard, otherwise they would have been flavorful. Both the rice and beans severely lacked seasonings. I wasn't impressed with the relleno either. I barely touched it. Also, the tortilla chips are different. They must have come from a bag. They weren't at all like the usual restaurant style chips that are light, warm and crispy. These chips with thick, hard and room temperature.

Either you're going to love this place or it's a once and done. Everything tastes fresh and is made to order. You won't find a pool of grease on your plate, just fresh ingredients. There was a lack of flavor in everything we ate. Even the salsa was bland. The chili verde lunch special was recommended by my waiter, but he didn't tell me it included a drink. If I would have known this, I would have had something besides water. The lunch special was $12 for the speciality plate. It's just enough food and you won't be taking home any leftovers. If you prefer your food on the bland side, this is your type of Mexican restaurant.

I dined at El Agave with my wife a few months ago and want to share our experience. My wife and I have worked in the restaurant and service industry for most of our lives, and if you read my reviews, you'll see that I seldom give less than a 4-5 star review.

On February 16th, 2024, we decided to try El Agave based on their reviews and pictures. The food looked amazing! When we arrived at the restaurant for dinner, most of the tables were open, and there were around 5-10 servers present, which seemed enough to handle the number of tables they had. We were greeted by a monotone waiter who was barely audible, which came off as rude. He didn't bring us any chips and salsa, which would have been okay if he hadn't brought chips to three other tables with more enthusiasm immediately after ours. We noticed several servers chatting but didn't think much of it. Another waitress dropped off our drinks and approached the following table, asking if they wanted chips without dropping off anything. This happened a few times, which again wasn't a big deal. After placing our order, two other tables were seated in our server's section and gave their orders after our drinks were put into the computer. After asking someone for chips, we patiently waited for our food. No one checked on us or asked if we wanted more chips or salsa when we finished ours. The other two tables received their food before us. It wasn't until after the other two tables finished that our food was brought to us. We guessed that our waiter had gone on break and didn't explain to the other waiter who took over his section that we were his table.

Overall, the service was poor. Given the number of servers present, there should have been ample people to help out. Our drinks arrived on time, but our order was lost and took about 45 minutes to come out. Our waiter could have been more attentive, and the bussers could not provide amenities.

On the bright side, the food was delicious. I ordered the fajitas burrito, which had a ton of meat inside and on top of it! Most burritos are easy for me to finish, but I needed help finishing this one. My wife had a wet super burrito and also had trouble finishing hers. It's a shame that the service was lacking because the food was fantastic, and the margaritas were great, too!

We'll be back, but only take orders out to avoid another disappointing...

Great food, great service!! And my food came within about 5 minutes! I thought maybe someone had ordered the same burrito and didn't show up... (Joke)

The atmosphere is awesome! The men's room was immaculate. The view out of the windows was excellent, but the seating area was especially fun and traditional Mexican. It was so pleasant. I cannot wait to eat there again. I like to eat at different places when I'm in town, but certain places like this one is worth coming back again and again. I can already tell that this will be one of my future favorite places to eat while in Auburn.

My waiter was so pleasant, too!! We even talked about my passion: uncovering all of the lies that we've been told since childhood and why people believe the lies: our mental operating systems have been altered to where we can't make sense of the truth.

Diatribe follows a bit here..:

It's like having an iPhone (operating system) and finding out that the apps are all lying to you, but you can't use Android apps (the truth) with your iPhone!!

Anyone who doesn't believe in conspiracies is insane. (They have a 'false perception of reality'=insane) EVERYTHING IS A CONSPIRACY ABOUT OUR WORLD!!

Most people are conspiracy deniers. Lol sad, funny sometimes, but true.

So... Most people are insane!!

But not my server... He's onto things as well!! Just not up to par with me, who spends about 13 hours a day researching everything from science, religions, politics, beliefs and programming in general, with a masters degree in social engineering. So I be knowing stuff that others can't see or even begin to understand anyway. The average IQ in the US is 98, so... What can you expect?! Not...
