Garden Bakery — Restaurant in California

My husband’s friend told us the pies here are out of this world so we went for breakfast. I was tasked with ordering. I walked right up and asked what pies they had and they responded “we don’t have any pies.” Head scratcher. I saw that the menu board had tamales, burritos, chili rellenos, and quesadillas. Huh? The case had a few danishes and some quiche-looking things called zucchini bites. I ended up ordering 2 danishes and 2 zucchini bites for my husband and me. Zucchini bites were warm, eggy, and gooey. My husband and I came to this place for lunch and we were disappointed. I ordered a taco and it was ok. He ordered a Chile relleno Burrito. The burrito was rapped in plastic wrap, which already wasn’t good for us. The lady who attended asked if we wanted cold or hot, my husband said hot, so she put it in the microwave 😐 She gave us the burrito without any salsa until we asked, and from the top (see photo) you could tell it was not fresh, also very cold inside. Okay so I dont want to alarm myself with outrageous statements, but this is my favorite tamale I've ever had. The breakfast burrito was also fantastic.

My wife and I had to go back here a second time during our visit, which is normally against our rules when on vacation. It was just so good.

The bake goods and coffee are solid but it's the tamales that will be bringing us back here next time...
