I placed a big order for 6 people last Friday night, using their ordering website. I sent my brother to go pick it up, with a screenshot of everything we ordered. He didn’t go thru the bags to check everything but just asked the counter staff twice to confirm that everything on the receipt was in the bags. The staff supposedly was very confident that everything was there. He got back with the food and it was missing an order of fries and a soda. We called the restaurant to report what was missing and asking what to do. They said they keep a list in the back of people who have credits and they would credit me for the missing fries and soda and I could come back and order something and they would give me the appropriate discount on my food. Generally the food was delicious on Friday night and we were very pleased. The standouts were the chicken souvlaki and the falafel, the tzatziki and some kind of lemony yogurt sauce, and the Greek salad. The portions were large and most of us had enough for leftovers. Today, 3 days later, I decided I would follow up on my credit and get some more falafel. I came in to the restaurant to order in person and ensure that my credit on some list ‘in the back’ still worked. The counter staff were very nice and courteous and remembered us from Friday. To make up for the mistake, they gave me a little more falafel than what I was expecting as a substitute for fries and a soda. They made the falafel fresh and asked if we wanted hummus and/or tahini. Since we have hummus at home, we opted for the tahini. When we got the falafel home, we were quite disappointed in it. It was much denser, chewier, and tougher than it was on Friday. And the tahini was way too bitter. Because we were so hungry, we managed to eat the falafel, but we simply couldn’t eat the tahini. I suspect the falafel balls were simply packed too tight before dropping in the oil. So my final assessment is that their food isn’t consistent. And you have to double check your order if it’s a big order. The folks working there are pleasant enough though. I’m not sure if I will try this...
Read moreA really great place. First, the food is quite tasty. I liked the open format applied to greek food. The whole build-your-own wrap is fantastic. I went with a fairly straightforward gyro on my first try, so I'm looking forward to the next time so I can play with a different style.
Second, the team behind the counter was really great and made for an excellent experience. They went above and beyond, and I truly appreciated them. The context: traveling with the fam and needed a quick dinner to run. My wife was going to just eat some cold leftovers in the car. After I'd gotten back to the car, I said to her "you know...they seemed really cool. I bet they would heat that up for you". Went back in...they didn't have a microwave, so instead threw it on the stove and reheated it for her.
Thanks ya'll at Gyromania. I wish you much success and keep on doing what you do. I'll be stopping back next time I'm on that...
