This place is amazing! Everything about this place was great, the staff are super nice, the food was out of this world, and the price was super low. Usually, I don’t get filled up at a sushi place, but this place did it marvelously. There is gentle piano music playing in the background, making the experience amazing. Everything me and my dad had tasted wild. The wakame salad was so flavorful, and the pepper tail was phenomenal. We enjoyed each of our rolls, and left nothing. And to finish it off, the gave us this salmon thing on the house, and it was so good. It just melted in my mouth. And to finish it off, the prices were great, especially at the quality of the sushi. This is easily my favorite sushi place anywhere, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

What can I say! I never review anything on here, but this place deserves it! First of all the location is perfect, it's nice, small, and quite. Second off, the service was awesome! I didn't have to flag anyone down and was well taken care of. And last but not least the food was AWESOME. I have worked in sushi for awhile and the quality of fish was amazing, the presentation was beautiful and the price/portions were perfect. I think me and my husband have found our new favorite place 🧡

My favorite sushi restaurant in Auburn by a wide margin. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Hanging spotlights over the table highlight the amazing food. Service is quick and attentive. Jalapeno BOMs are a must. The tempura was perfectly fried--crispy but not oily. The Sakura roll and 49er roll are fantastic, as well. Don't miss out on this hidden gem.

We've sampled all kinds of sushi restaurants over the years from Nevada City and Grass Valley, to Auburn, and Roseville, and the first time we were here, the first bite I had, I said: "This is what I've been looking for." As a Foresthill resident it's serendipitous that the best sushi place around is right at the bottom of the hill, almost like it's just for us. The place is quiet and cozy and we always leave fat and happy. Heck, after our last visit to Sakura we had to stop at Best Buy to buy a tablet and, for whatever reason, my lady decided only after we'd entered the store that she also wanted to buy an 86" TV. I couldn't figure out why she suddenly wanted to buy the biggest TV possible. After thinking about it for the last week the only thing that I've been able to conclude is that it was the Sakura Sushi ;)

7-17-23 UPDATE: Visited again yesterday before seeing the new Mission Impossible film and I expected it to be a little less busy on a Sunday eve (they just changed their hours, I believe to add two days that they were previously closed for, I might be mistaken) and it was a bit less busier than our usual weekday evening visits, which was nice. One of my biggest fears in life has become showing up to Sakura and there not being any seating - we've seen it happen to other patrons a few times while we were dining on busy nights! Going to Sakura is something that we plan for days in advance as a family event, and it would be a very sad day to miss out on the food after looking forward to it for several days. I think that this was the first time our family of four (m'lady, our two girls, and I) ordered five rolls, instead of one each. The girls also ordered some mochi desserts after and I can't believe we put it all away! We came hungry and left happy and bubbly, like always. I still can't believe that this place is right at the bottom of the hill so close to home! For years I had become resigned to good sushi always being far away, until Sakura appeared. After we left last night I was thinking that Sakura could easily bump up the price on all of their rolls by a dollar and nobody would have any qualms about it because it's just that good. $5 more for what we had last night? Take my money! Sakura earns it. I will say, though, that I'm honestly becoming fearful of more people discovering Sakura - what with all of us netizens singing its praises, because I know that the day will come where we show up to a full house, with no seats waiting for us, and a line of people waiting out the door. Sakura is a cuisine diamond in these hills, and I wish it could stay our little secret forever. In the meantime we'll remain strategic about when we show up to minimize the chance that we miss out. Actually, you know what, forget everything I just said. Stay away!...

I know you may be thinking, "Good sushi in Auburn? No way" but you would be mistaken... this place is a little gem. The fish quality is fantastic, the chef (whom I'm pretty sure is one of the owners) puts love into every dish, and you can taste every little nuance of flavor. This is not some gimmicky Americanized giant portion kind of place, it's special, it's well prepared and delicious. The atmosphere is awesome too with the small and intimate kind of dining room. I've been here with multiple friends and we laughed and had a fantastic time, and I have been here by myself and had a wonderful quiet meal. Every time I've been here I've walked away feeling like I had an awesome experience, please...
