The food was fine, your typical Americanized sushi with thick specialty rolls and sweet sauces. It wasn’t an authentic Japanese culinary experience, but that’s not what I expected from a suburban socal sushi place anyway. My daughter wanted sushi for our Daddy-Daughter lunch date, so we went with it.
However, the experience left me irritated. The restaurant has a strict no-takeout policy and charges for leftovers, which I found unreasonable. If I’m paying for leftover food, I should be able to take it home. Also, my 8-year-old daughter and I were sharing, and I assumed it would be one adult and one kid AYCE charge. But mid-meal, the server (asian lade) returned to inform us my daughter had to order her own meal, interrupting our time together to discuss money, which felt unnecessary and unclassy.
What made it more disappointing was that I realized I couldn’t eat much due to being on Ozempic, further complicating the situation. I don’t mind paying for leftovers, but I don’t appreciate feeling micromanaged during a meal.
AYCE places should just charge customers per pound on leftovers. Easy.
On a positive note, another server was incredibly kind and understanding (non-asian girl). She even tried to mediate with the other lady to charge us fairly. I truly appreciated her warmth and effort. I told her that her kindness will take her far. I left but unfortunately, the overall experience left an unsettling impression. Maybe I am being too sensitive but yah someone coming up to me mid- meal to discuss extra charges is just ghetto.
I know I sound like a boomer or racist person because I had to mention asian, non-asian 😀but I swear I just wanted to make sure the right person was appreciated and I didn’t catch...
Read moreWent in on a Friday afternoon 6/7. Was a little busy coming in but was seated promptly. Was given drinks and taken our order pretty quickly, but for charging $40+ for AYCE all day, which is pretty steep compared to other places around, the service after was pretty terrible. We were given our food with no utensils. The waitress with the black curly hair kept ignoring our table to do a second round of AYCE, and we had to give the paper to the one making sushi for us, which I thought was pretty odd.
We never got refills on our drinks as well, until my second round came after almost 25 min of being ignored. After 10 minutes you start to get full from just waiting around, which kinda isn't the point of AYCE, but took 25 min so after that round I ended up feeling full which I felt was a waste of money. I get that there were 2 of them serving the entire restaurant, but they were focusing on other customers while our small table was being ignored and walked right past us trying to get their attention. We've had pretty much all the AYCE sushi spots around Murrieta/Temecula but this one was probably the worst experiences we've had.
Not sure if it was an off day for staff but for a first time visit there left a bad experience for us and probably will not go back again.
TLDR: Mediocre service, $40+ AYCE, good...
Read moreI love sushi and while the food here is great most of the time, the prices are outrageous. But that's not and issue when service and timeliness is up to par. But today was a different story, we got there for dinner at around 6 it was busy but we got sat almost immediately. Within minutes we ordered and my rolls came out not too long after. Pieces were huge which makes it harder to eat. My boyfriend's food was a different story...it wasn't coming out, so we finally asked, come to find out a server had brought he's order to a different table, how long was that....long!! That person had already finished eating that's how long no one came to check on us. When I finally asked they put in an order which took another while longer. He's food came out just to realize other stuff was missing still. When I asked about it, they brought it out. When we said something the server said "We got you your missing items that's it, nothing else we can do". She sure stayed on top of our bill though $77 dollars later!! Sadly enough, I don't think we'll be...
