I love Mexican food, and sombreros has been my "go to " place for Mexican food, imo the sombreros on main street is better then the other 2 in el cajon. I live down the street from their graves location, so I frequent that location the most (atleast once a week) .... until my last visit; I was standing at the counter while the cashier was emptying the trash cans, which was no problem I was fine waiting until she was finished. From the trash cans near "dining room " door she asked what I wanted to order (which was surprising) so I told her want I wanted (carne asada burrito with cheese) by the time she got to the counter , she already forgot the order (why ask, if you cant even remember 1 item) lol. I repeated my order, handed her my credit card.... as she finished swiping my card I stuck my hand out for her to hand my card back to me.... she puts card on counter, same thing happened with my receipt, and the "club card " receipt, after that happening 3 times I spoke up and said how she could have handed them to me!!! .... she just laughed, as I watched her place my card and receipts on counter 3 times.... I was able to notice the bandaid on her hand (I've worked in the food service industry before, so I know the "protocol " she should have worn a glove over the bandaged hand!) Well she never washed her hands but she was handling money and not food so I wasnt concerned. After she rung me up, she takes the trash out to the dumpster..... comes back in hands the customer (who must've placed order before I walked in) their order..... and then she gives me my order, but SHE DIDN'T WASH HER HANDS!!! She wasnt wearing a name tag (and this was the 1st time I've ever seen her working there) my receipt says "Mari" on it. Rather then speaking up, I just threw my food away...chalked it up as a learning experience ($9 spent to witness the carelessness/laziness) , but after that experience... I will never eat at that location again!!! And I strongly advise anyone else to not eat at that location! Tbh we're not even sure why there was ever a "fuss" over this restaurant chain 🤷🏼♀️ So many other places serving better quality carne & just overall deliciousness when craving that satisfaction of really tasty Mexican food (obviously in terms of fast food mexican vs authentic cuisine dining). I dislike doing a more unsatisfactory review & I truly waited 2 years before writing one on this particular chain of Mexican fast food chains. Never fails, every time someone in our group orders either carne asada chips/fries.. regardless of precise requests for NO FRIJOLES/BEANS it's as if it's intentionally ignored for whatever reason & it's just unpleasant. Oh btw their "hot salsa" is not spicy whatsoever & I would swear the recipe for it's ingredients has changed within the past 2yrs. Read moreI’ve eaten here before for years with no issue, until today. I put an online order for a lunch run, and one of the orders was incorrect. Obviously, I didn’t know that until I got back with everyone’s food. I only get a 30 min break for lunch, so I called to see if I could get a refund for the items they forgot to add to my order. Instead, the manager who wouldn’t even speak to me himself, told me to either bring my food back to get it replaced, or “come back another day to pick up the add ons”. What?? The only way I could get the food I paid for was to give up the remainder of my lunch break to drive back and get it replaced. I didn’t even receive an apology for the inconvenience. The manager stood there glaring at me from the kitchen the whole time. They did give me a free drink, but only because I asked them to at least compensate me in some way for the inconvenience.
