The absolute WORSE customer service I have encountered. This review is soley regarding the Spencer's staff at the Rosedale location and if possible they would recieve a zero star review. I have eaten here a couple times and have always enjoyed the food. However, the staff is very unprofessional and almost child like in their demeanor. My most recent encounter with the staff occurred Monday 3/15/21 in which an order was placed around 6:15pm and then canceled somehow at the restaurant. When attempting to call the store, I was placed on a 18minute hold then was hung up by a staff member. After multiple attempts to call back I finally reached an employee who stated that their internet was down so thats why my order was canceled. The call was ended again as I was taking my companies order and when calling back for the 5th for 6th time an employee picked up the line (without speaking) and placed the phone down while I was on the line. I stayed on the line for 10mins all the while listening to the staff talk about customers (one customer being a nurse as one employee stated to another) and other orders that were placed. Never during this entire time did an employee talk to me on the phone. Even after my repeated attempts to loudly get their attention. After close to 15mins I ended the call and attempted to call them back 7 more times. However the line was always a busy tone (probably due to the phone still being on the counter). By 7:40pm I gave up entirely on trying to reach back out to them. Spencers please take note, you are a good restaurant but your staffing needs serious improvement. The fact that you force customers to go through this much hassle is absolutely ridiculous and reflects poorly not only on the company name but the owner.    Read moreI had a friend who worked at this place for nearly 8 years from 2012 thru 2019. He told me that the managers are the most uncaring, reckless and unintelligent people he ever met. They have no effort on running the restaurant right. My friend used to be a dishwasher and prep cook. However he told me that the work is difficult because the managers never get new equipment and supplies. The employees only buy that stuff for themselves. The owner and managers are absolutely cheap. They don't even buy new buss tubs to place dirty dishes. The scheduling is outrageous. He worked a 7-3 shift by himself. He had to dump a really heavy trash can by himself which almost broke his back. He couldn't get any breaks because he would be behind and no one helps him. He also tells me his fellow colleagues are selfish and disgusting. Like one time he was brushing the floor until a cook was sweeping the walk in and was sweeping the trash into the floor he was brushing. Very lazy and disrespectful. Plus the owner is a cheap stake because like mentioned earlier he never buys the requested items. Plus my friend became a Prep cook however he had an accident which he had to go to the hospital and few months later he had been getting a medical bill which is responsible to the owner and managers because it was A WORK RELATED INCIDENT! However nothing happened and my friend had no choice but to pay the bill himself cost him over $1,000. Do not plan on working here for a lifetime. The pay is terrible. Hours aren't good and scheduling is the worst. Oh by the way avoid their BBQ. The food they prepare is done on buss tubs even when its clean and sanitized, thats still disgusting.    Read moreWe were here yesterday and weâve given Spencer several chances, about six to seven times total between dining in and picking up food, but unfortunately the service has consistently fallen short. Out of all these visits, only once did we have a positive service experience.
During our visits, weâre usually seated, the server takes our order, brings out the food, and then weâre completely ignored. The server never comes back, and no one checks in. Toward the end of the meal, we end up having to flag down a different server, usually someone just walking by, if we need a coffee refill, a to-go box, or even just the check. We can never seem to find our original server again.
This has happened too many times to feel like a one-time oversight. Whatâs especially discouraging is that the staff seems to give noticeably better attention to guests they appear to recognize, which makes it hard for new or occasional customers like us to feel welcome, valued, or encouraged to return.
The food is pretty good, though slightly overpriced, but good food can only go so far when the service feels inconsistent and inattentive. Itâs disappointing.
