New York Plate — Restaurant in Calumet Township

First off, I was already HIGHLY skeptical of this place. I just moved up here from FL and haven’t seen a single good restaurant to eat at. I was really excited to find this place close to my house. I read reviews beforehand of course which made me hesitant to order from here, but I bit the bullet and did....and I regret it. I ordered the hummus, something I make at my house from scratch ALL the time. It looked good and I was about to dive in when I noticed this thick, black hair follicle in there. I automatically lost my appetite and threw it out. I also ordered the Gyro plate with extra “special sauce” on the side. I was HUGELY disappointed when I discovered this “special sauce”, which is typically tzatziki sauce Greek places use (also another thing I know how to make at home from scratch) was simply....RANCH DRESSING?!?! Someone stated this in a previous review but I didn’t want to believe them (I take it back!).

It was soaked allll over the pita, which was the only good tasting thing. The meat was alright but you could taste the grease...not enough lettuce and the rice? Well, the rice creeped me out and didn’t taste that good either because it’s Orange...never seen Mediterranean rice look like that.

All in all, I should have listened to the reviews and stayed away from this place. I DEFINITELY, will not be eating here again due to everything being wrong, wrong, WRONG! I will stick with the Greek place in the Southlake Mall in Merrillville for...

This place is a scourge on the City of Gary. Calling it a nuisance would be a compliment. The trash that goes in and out would not last five minutes on Broadway or in any other part of NYC, so the name is misleading. We wouldn't normally go to anything in this plaza, but had a gift card to the neighboring Subway. A hillbilly took up standing a few feet from my car smoking not 2 feet from the shared entrance. He clearly has reason to hasten his sweet release from this life, but insisted on blowing smoke into the doors and walked right up to my car, badly upsetting my dog, over and over. He then met up with some dirty walking poster for bad choices and they placed behind the building, in front of my car, and into a car over and over at a pace like they had dead lice falling off them. I called inside to my husband, who informed management that we would have to leave if the macabre carnival in the parking lot did not wind down, and they offered an excuse that the trash from "New York" Plate always loiters while awaiting their cardiac disease and carcinogen plates. Don't go here. They make respectable trash like...

I'd like to start by saying I'm a proud buisness owner ... customer service in any Industry like this is key ..

We were told good things about the new York plate company we were about 7 blocks from there so about 10 or so of us called to place an order it would have totalled somewhere near 150$ or better just buy looking at the menu and price of an avg of 15 $ per person .. we called about 920 ish it took quite a few rings before we were answered , at that time we were told we could not place an order over the phone that it was walk in service only we left immediately pulled up at 930 ish and all the lights were off everything was closed and the doors were locked ... shocked I just got off the phone with someone and they didn't say anything to us about this .. about 5 of the 10 pple own local region businesses and we would like to tell you that we will probably never try to visit your establishment again for the pure fact the staff didn't care and they...
