The quality and variety of the food provided by JJ's exceeded all expectations. Each dish was meticulously prepared, showcasing their expertise and attention to detail of their talented staff. The flavors were simply exquisite. The menu catered to a diverse range of dietary preferences, ensuring that every guest was well taken care of.
Moreover, the quantity of food donated by Mr. Oday and JJ's was more than sufficient to accommodate the large number of attendees. No one went hungry, and there was an abundance of choices for everyone to enjoy. Read moreLet's start with the food.
My husband, our children, and I came in and ordered the Catfish Nugget meal. The menu reads that this meal comes with nuggets, fries, potato salad, coleslaw & bread.
The food was alright with the grease being thick and old. Nothing special, but we were definitely undeserved as the coleslaw came in 2 small sauce cups about 2/3rds full, AND potato salad was not included.
On to service. Due to the sauce cup slaw and the lack of potato salad altogether, my husband checked the menu to be sure he did not error and then went to the woman at the counter.
It was here things went south. She was rude and dishonest, claiming the meal did not come with those things but the choice of one or the other. However, when she took the meal, she did not ask for a choice, and, again, the menu read "&" not "or". The young woman at the counter was the kind that did not smile when she took your order or spoke to you and overall carried herself in a manner that showed she was either too good to work there or she was plain miserable at work. Moreover, she proceeded to jeer at us to another customer shortly after this discrepancy.
I will say on a positive note that when I came to the counter, there was a man with long dreads who was friendly and accommodating. Though already working hard, he was ready to serve and gentle in spirit.
Lastly, the atmosphere. One booth was clean, and there were crumbs and trash all over the floor. Furthermore, there were no trash bags in...
Read moreI like the food at JJ's, and the food at this location is good. The problem isn't the food, though, it's the service. The attitude of the woman taking the orders wasn't great. There was a big sense of impatience and like you were wasting her time. If she didn't understand something about your order, she'd give you this response as if she thought you were crazy. When I spend my hard-earned money somewhere, I like to feel good at the place I'm spending it. If I'm made to feel like a child or like I'm in line at a prison or concentration camp, it makes me not want to spend money to experience that feeling.
This is actually how I felt here. I kept thinking to myself, "I can't wait to get out of here." It's bad when you're the customer and you are afraid to ask for something extra, all because you fear you might get a smart remark or a lot of attitude.
In the end, it wasn't just the behavior that brought the whole experience down, but also the fact that I paid for something in my order that I didn't receive.
In the end, I think I'll stick to Shark's Fish and Chicken on 39th & Broadway. They don't act like you're bugging them, the food's good, and your order comes...
