Wow....take a lesson in customer service Linda and staff. Awful, business practice, and definitely do not have the humbling experience of a small business. I have been using Bread Basket for my chocolate covered strawberries for 10+ years, minimum three times a year, birthday, valentines day, and mother's day because I work for a family owned business locally and liked the fact that they are a small locally owned and run business. Will never use them again.
I went in on Tuesday 5/6/2014 to order a dozen chocolate covered strawberries for Mother's day, knowing it would be busy I paid and placed the order well in advance so that they would be ready. They told me I would be able to pick up the strawberries Saturday after 12pm. I work nearby and got very busy at work, I was able to make it over there but arrived at 6:15pm. 15 minutes after they close. Extremely stressed and worried I wouldn't be able to get my strawberries for mother's day, I approached the front door nonetheless. It was locked, but there were a group of women inside who could see me, I knocked on the door and explained the situation, that I had already paid for and purchased the strawberries, they simply needed to hand them to me through the door. As I am trying to make my case through a glass door, they wave their arms and say "sorry were closed" and proceed to go around the corner so I can't see them, frustrated, I try again, and I get the same response "sorry were closed" and then go behind the corner. Just a reminder for those reading, I HAVE ALREADY PAID, they simply need to grab my strawberries out of the fridge and hand them to me. After several failed attempts, I leave angry and frustrated. How difficult is it unlock the door to hand me my PRE-PURCHASED strawberries? Of course, they are closed Sunday, and Monday, so I was unable to get my strawberries until today 5/13/2014. As I went in today, I very calmly explained the situation to the manager Linda, how I had already purchased them, and that through the door, her staff yelled that they were closed and could not give me my strawberries.
She asked me, "so the strawberries were to be picked up Saturday?" Me: yes Linda: "We threw them out if they were for Saturday." Me: Okay, just refund me my money then Linda: I'm sorry sir we can't do that. We'll make you new strawberries. Me: I don't want strawberries. I want my money back. Linda: I'm sorry sir, we can't refund your money because we made you strawberries and had to throw them out. We will make you new strawberries. They will be ready for pick up tomorrow 5/14/2014.
Are you kidding me? So not only did I not have strawberries for mother's day, I still don't have strawberries, and they will not give me my money back!
I will be going to the Better Business Bureau regarding this. This is wrong on every level.
Be warned! They do not run business properly and are extremely unprofessional.

Very very disappointed and frustrated with the young lady who was not able to take my order over the phone. I was very specific on what I wanted . I told her I wanted a 9” chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate cream frosting. Simple easy! Then I asked for a simple Halloween decoration and happy birthday and she told me they don’t that. I told her that was not true! I have visited the bread basket many times and I have seen thier Halloween big cake design displayed on the shelf’s behind the counter. Then she said they have a standard Halloween design and I said ok . What is your standard design and she changed her story and said we don’t have Halloween design. Then she put me on hold for a minute . Then she got back on and mam , we can make your design with fondant. I told her that was fine I don’t mind as long as they don’t wrap the cake with fondant. I already told her I want the cake made. Then she proceeded to ask me what kind of figurines I wanted on the cake . Then she said we only have chocolate ghosts. I said can I get some pumpkin and bat figurines on it the chocolate ghost I was ok with. I was going to ask if the could airbrush a haunted house on it with happy birthday and my sons name on the cake. But before I could finish ordering the cake , she started getting rude and frustrated because she could not understand what I wanted she kept on repeating you have to come talk to my manager or let me give you the email to my manager it , because I don’t know what want and not understanding what you want she can take your special order. I was in shock with the very very poor customer service!!!! I told her she should learn how to take order. And she hung up. I am very disappointed with the bread basket employee. Is that how they teach them to service thier customers? I have always bought thier delivery pastries and cakes for special occasion I even buy the doggie treats for pets which they absolutely love. Read moreTerrible customer service from Linda , this past Saturday I went to pick up my 25th wedding anniversary cake that I ordered months in advance and prepaid for simple order two stack cakes and needed the cake for a Sunday delivery to my event location they told me that couldn’t be possible so I decided to pick up ny self so I went on Saturday, to faced the most rude customer service from Linda my cakes were not stacked the way they were ordered she told me is nothing I can do because the note that employee Mayra took doesn’t said they supposed to be stack over so I ask how long is Mayra working here she said many years and she will not make that mistake so I said but you were here that day that I ordered and she reply very rudely but I didn’t take the order so for and me very frustrated I said well can you call someone to fix this she said absolutely not they all gone for the day, me well can you call the owner for a solution she said I will never call the owner to bother for this so Madam do you want this cakes or not I said well At least sell me the stuff you use to stack it my self and she rudely said we ca not sell that i said why not she said because I don’t even know what price, but before that she told me that 18 dollars charge wasn’t noted in the receipt and that was the reason for the mistake.
