Edit: I still LOVE the food here and will continue to come here but every single time I visit the old lady cashier is just so rude for no reason. If you want any customizations she rolls her eyes at you and there’s a 80% chance it’s going to come out wrong and then she gives you attitude like I didn’t tell her any of this. She’s rushed me and my friends ordering before too. The food is still absolutely worth dealing with her just make sure you double check your order when you walk out if she’s the one that took it. Every other member of the staff here has been extremely friendly and accommodating.
I’ve been coming here for years. I’ve finally tried all the meats and just about everything on the menu and I can confirm this is the best Mexican in Ventura County. The shrimp tacos are so creamy and perfect, the carnitas are juicy and packed with flavor, the asada and pastor have a wonderful charred taste to them. The menu is very limited but they focus on quality over quantity. I’ve never had a bad or even an ok experience here. And don’t forget To get...
Read moreDo yourself a favor and Go elsewhere. Ordered the meat super burrito, was anything but super. I don't eat at taco Bell, but the "super meat burrito" was the size of a 1 dollar bean burrito at taco Bell. Salsa tasted jarred, was told I could not add avocado to the burrito. The salsa made the average steak cold inside. I understand if a burrito has no beans or rice, it would have less, but at 8.20 for a child size burrito, no thanks. Go to Olas or Sharkey's or even Baja fresh have more flavor, quality, and value for the money. I did, I took two bites and sent it back and the worker referred me to the owner who argued with me over my dissatisfaction for the cold meat and size of the burrito. I was made to feel bad that the burrito failed... All this makes me miss the subpar hoagie place that used to be here.. they did a better job and stayed open longer than many might expect. Sorry dude, stick to whatever it is you know, Mexican food is not your thing... Can't add avocado?!!...
Read moreGreat food! I stopped by Hector Mexican Food for lunch and was not disappointed. As soon as I walked up to the counter, I saw a group of laborers digging into their meals, always a good sign that the food is legit.
I ordered the giant asada burrito and it loaded meat/beans/rice/avocado, flavorful, and filling. The portion size was hefty. The hot sauce? Super hot spicy, in the best way.
It is a small place, nothing fancy, but the food speaks for itself. The only downside was the bathroom. tiny and the door knob tough to open. Honestly, just skip the restroom if you can.
If you're hungry and want real Mexican food that hits the spot, this is it. Will definitely be back when passing...
