The food at West End is nothing short of incredible, with each dish prepared to showcase the natural flavors and quality of the ingredients. A standout starter, the calamari, is perfectly prepared—tender on the inside with a delightfully crispy exterior. It's a testament to the kitchen's mastery in handling seafood. Accompanying the calamari, the onion rings deserve a special mention. Unlike the typical greasy fare, these onion rings are spectacular, with a light, crisp batter that enhances rather than overwhelms the sweet, tender onions within.
The main courses continue to impress, particularly the halibut, which is cooked to perfection. The fish is flaky and moist, each bite melting effortlessly in the mouth, indicative of its freshness and quality. Complementing the halibut is the house-made tartar sauce—a top-notch accompaniment that adds just the right amount of tang and creaminess, enhancing the fish without overpowering its delicate flavor.
For those seeking a heartier dish, the fish sandwich comes highly recommended. It's a substantial offering that combines the simple pleasures of perfectly cooked fish with just the right touch of dressings and a fresh bun, making it a satisfying choice for any meal.
Service at West End is as delightful as the food. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that every aspect of the dining experience is taken care of promptly and with a smile. This level of service, combined with the outstanding cuisine, makes West End a must-visit destination for anyone looking for an exceptional dining...
Read moreI do not generally review restaurants since I do not have very high standards and will eat about anything. This is an exception. I am incredibly disappointed with my visit here.
First, we waited to be seated by Robin who did not greet us (my wife and I) but just rushed us in. Robin was very abrupt and seemed to want to be somewhere else. She took our order as if we were interrupting her day, she actually slammed two bottles of water down and walked away without saying anything.
I ordered the Cod and my wife the chicken tenders. Our food came out in a timely manner but I quickly realized my second main complaint, quality. My wife's chicken tenders were very cheap (they appeared to be Sisco frozen chicken!). My cod came with veggies and bread, ask of which was not fresh. The veggies were not cooked through and were hard (broccoli and carrots). The cod was passable and I did eat it all.
While sitting in the restaurant I noticed the manger talking to a customer over the phone. He was very rude to them.
Overall, I highly do not recommend. For the 40 dollars we payed we could have eaten much better at "the grill" down the street (a favorite of ours).
I realize we all have bad days and good days but this restaurant tested our patience. I think it would be a good candidate for the show "restaurant: impossible"! Thank you for reading and take have...
Read moreWe’ve had lunch here a few times over the years with good results but today when asked what we wanted to drink I asked for a glass of water. I was told that they don’t serve glasses of water, only bottled. I thought that was strange so I had nothing to drink. We probably should have just left at that point, but we ordered an appetizer to share and it was ok but 4 of the about 20 baby clams didn’t open so we didn’t eat them. Could be edible but I’m not taking a chance. After this unfortunate lunch attempt we went to Linn’s Bakery & Restaurant for wonderful pie. Next time we will skip West End Bar & Grill and go to Linn’s or Las Cambritas for lunch.
