My wife and I stopped at his gallery on our way up to Carmel. My wife really loved a metal sculpture he had created. A few months later I contacted Ricardo about purchasing the piece. We texted back and forth to make the arrangements (all on the quiet!) and on our anniversary we made the trip back up the coast. Ricardo had asked me what my wife's favorite music was and when we walked in he starting her favorite sound track. He had placed an anniversary card under the sculpture and as she looked at it again noticed the card with her name on it. She was overwhelmed with joy! Riccardo is the future of art. In a sense he is an artist like back in the Renaissance, where the artist debated with the customer what to do, what should the meaning of the piece of art be and all the details. His atelier shows samples and ideas. You don't buy from him, you commission. The late '800s created the self-serving introverted artist pushing their ideas. That's great for museums and when the buyer is the state. But for personal art that belongs to you, the artist has to involve the client deeply in the creative process. 5 of us stumbled upon Ricardo's Cambria studio by chance & ended up spending an hour in conversation with him. His work is unique & on the level of the greats like Divinci! Yet he is personable, humble & his prices are reasonable. We were encouraged to touch the art as the motion &shadows are meant to be part of the art. Truly a memorable experience that made our day. We took a picture knowing we'd just met a significantly talented Artist who is likely to become more well known.
