This was not my first time patronizing this establishment. The coffee was the best I'd ever had. I was looking forward to it this trip 3/26/21, however I was refused service by the young lady at the counter because I am unable to wear a mask. I was told by the young lady that I would not be served & that I should order online because science has proven that ordering online protects me. So, I can pick up my coffee without a mask, but I can't order it without one?? I was standing a minimum of 10 ft away, outdoors, with a large plexiglass between us & the young lady was wearing a mask. Does none of that work or what??? I asked her if she was discriminating against me because of my medical condition & she replied, "Yes." She then proceeded to tell me that I would be "safer" getting coffee elsewhere. I obliged & I will NEVER patronize nor encourage anyone else to patronize Cambria Coffee Roasting Co. Since when is my medical condition her responsibility?? I am responsible for me. She is responsible for her. If masks, social distancing & plexiglass works then what's the problem?! Masks are NOT one size fits all! Common sense has went out the door!! This kind of discrimination is no different than being refused service because of my race, religion or gender!! If you have a disability I don't recommend shopping here, because they clearly don't want to serve anyone with such.
This establishment has broken California Civil law Section 51. (Amended by Stats. 2005, Ch. 420, Sec. 3.) Cite as: Cal. Civil Code §51.
(a)This section shall be known, and may be cited, as the Unruh Civil Rights Act.
(b)All persons within the jurisdiction of this state are free and equal, and no matter what their sex, race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, disability, medical condition, marital status, or sexual orientation are entitled to the full and equal accommodations, advantages, facilities, privileges, or services in all business establishments of every kind whatsoever.
I really wish the discrimination would end. If you need/want to wear a mask then wear it. If you don't need or are unable to wear one then don't. There should be no questions asked. A mandate is not a law. Even the mandate states exemptions, but common people & many business establishments have overlooked it. Frankly, they deserve to lose business if this is the treatment they give. Very sad. Very disappointing. We...
Read moreThis is a wonderful little gem in my beautiful seaside village. The coffee that they roast on site has become so popular with restaurants and stores that they've had to open a new roasting lab in SLO. The Mocha Java dark roast is my personal favorite, although the Cambria Blend is good too. If you have an espresso maker at home, be sure to get a pound of Art of Darkness. Super tasty.
I get a cup from these guys several times each week and all the coffee that I brew at home is roasted by them. Throughout Covid they have been consistent in applying their mask and social distance policy. Compliance is easy and customers feel safe. Most customers politely help in this effort. I've been distressed to see a (very) few customers verbally abuse the kids working there.
One woman abused a shy high school girl working during the pandemic so badly she went home in tears. Don't do that. If you can't wear a mask, use your phone to order online and they can bring it to the curb for you. You can also get coffee somewhere else in town, but don't yell at kids trying to follow the owner's extremely reasonable policy. You wouldn't be mean to someone at a restaurant who didn't serve you because you refused to observe their No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service...
Read moreCAMBRIA COFFEE COMPANY's friendly baristas brew wonderful, rich coffees and decadent expresso drinks. A selection of pastries and bagels are offered. Some are vegan.
I've been coming here for years. In the morning the patio is the gathering place for Camberia's elite who discuss the town's current and future life. The discussions are friendly, sometimes biting, but often filled with love.
Don't miss this place.
Place your order at the counter. There is often a line, but it moves fast. Both hot and cool drinks are offered. Over the years the selection of pastry has grown more complete.
The Wi-Fi is free and fast in this mostly wheelchair accessible coffee shop.
There is a second floor "club" with comfortable couches, and an balcony at the top of a narrow, steep staircase that offers a great view of Cambria's Main Street, but is not wheelchair accessible. There are no public restrooms in the shop.
Seating is under a covered patio or in the adjoining, air-conditioned, seating room. There are work spaces with electric outlets.
STUFF: Wheelchair accessible, public bathrooms are about a half-block to your right, facing the shop. Street parking is free. Parking is also free in the city owned lot, next to the...
