Revised: I wrote a review yesterday based on experience with one bartender (Amanda-blonde) who was unprofessional, rude and not very well trained. Sadly she has worked there a while. I'm revising today because I had time to sleep on it and her actions don't reflect the establishment in whole.
This place has one of the best views in the tri-state area. The ambience is pretty good and the people that go there add to the vibe. Mainly a college crowd but with local neighborhood folks mixed in. The food is what you would expect from a pub. Nothing great and nothing bad. The wings are the best on the menu with spiced fries coming in second. Not much of a dinner selection but it's a pub. Prices are reasonable if not cheap if you catch a special. Hey have free parking and music from a juke box with plenty of small flat screens.
Now the bad. Cleanliness isn't their strength which makes me wonder about the kitchen. Experienced many times the bar being dirty and being served on dirty bar. Same with pub tables and outside tables. Glass and silver wear may have spots or lipstick. If you ask for a clean bar area, clean glass or chilled glass you are complaining. Smh! Which leads to the service. Don't expect good service. Actually you'll probably get attitude with your drink. If you are okay or indifferent with bad service, you'll like it here. Not all the staff are like this, the majority are. There are a couple really good bartenders and waitresses. They have a few bad apples. Never a thank you, how's your meal? If there is a crowd or concert the service gets worst. Here's a tip! Regardless if you tip 15% or 30% the service is the same (bad) and still no thank you. So why tip more than you should. Gratuities is for gratitude. Some act if you should be grateful to be served by them.
Ownership should take note that this is a consistent complaint in Yelp and google reviews. This place would be awesome if they fixed this problem. I'll rate them on the curve and give 4 stars for ambience, view of city and free parking. Everything else needs some improvement. 2 Stars.
Let's hope an honest review fixes the problem versus glazing over with fake reviews.
Revised again May 2017: Service has gotten much better so has the cleanliness. The host are friendly. The bartenders are great with the exception (Amanda) yes she still works there. Smh, luckily the other bartenders are great and make up for her and I don't have to order from her. Food is consistently good. Like the salad, add salmon its best deal in town. They are located where I live so it's convenient. Raised my rating from 2 stars to 3, would be 4 if I didn't have that experience with bartender. I recommend this place if...
Read moreLocated in the newly constructed luxury waterfront condos of the Victor building, this spacious pub with a view of the Ben Franklin and the skyline of Central City in Philly, is a cool place to have a $2 Yuengling and some wings.
This seems to be the only place in Camden to go for a beer and food. If that's really the case, things in Camden are worst than previously thought. This place was referred by most of the people we encountered that knew about the cities limited restaurants and bars. So we went.
I had the buffalo chicken sandwich w/out bread (i'm getting used to that now) and fries (not getting used to giving those up). GF had the grilled chicken salad. She gave a forks up for the chicken salad, I found my chicken a bit tough. That's the first time that's ever happened. We didn't have drinks or beer, we stuck with the tap water, which had a funny taste.
The menu is classic pub fare with a good selection of beer and a wine menu (I'm not sure why they have a wine menu). If you're drinking and want some food that's understandable, but I'm not sure I would go there for just the food. It's literally the only game of it's kind in the downtown/waterfront area. A short walk from where the car was parked, I saw a massive amount of closed businesses. Hmm.
This area of Camden is undergoing somewhat of a revitalization and the change is coming, but it's moving really slow. Within walking distance or tram (really cool and it stops right out front of this place) is Campbell's Field (minor league baseball), an aquarium (so what), and a still developing waterfront. With Rutgers amassing a huge student body, I'm sure a place is needed to release and my feeling is this is the place come Friday and Saturday night. The place closes way too early, 1AM! I would go crazy if I somehow found myself here finishing off a bucket of brews and faced with nowhere to extend my night! If you're only guy in the area milk it as long as you can. I'm sure the students wouldn't mind. So what else is there to do in Camden on Friday and Saturday night? I'm gonna find out. Stay tuned for a KBR/NYC exclusive.
3 brews- 1 for the view/space, 1 for being the only player right now and 1 for the inexpensive beer. If you live in Camden, recommended you have no choice it seems. If you live Philly, do not cross the bridge! At least you get 30 more minutes of drinking. Looking over at Philly it's like such a tease. I guess that's why the train goes across the Ben Franklin a...
Read moreUnfortunately, I’ve had many bad experiences here with the same cashier names Janelle. She’s the blond one with a bigger nose. First, she charged me $30 for the same thing I ordered 1 week prior for $16. I was fine with the price of $30 it’s not a big deal, but she had the nastiest tone and blamed this on me instead of on the cashier who charged me wrong the first time. I order a second time and she has the same snarky attitude when I didn’t immediately know they didn’t have Apple Pay, that was fine I got my wallet and paid with my card instead. Come to find out when I come home, my pasta that i specified twice on the phone to be without meat, had meat on it. I am visibly Muslim as I wear the hijab. I have no doubt that Janelle, the same women, the one who fulfilled my order and took it thru the phone, did this on purpose. Then, when I call to complain she tells me pasta only comes with meat on the menu and hung up on me in the middle of me talking, refusing to give me a refund until three days further. My other friends have also experienced the same from Janelle, it’s the same cashier every time. She needs to be fired. I’m so dissapointed. Other from her, there’s a very nice lady’s whos shorter with long black hair in a ponytail who is sweet...
