My husband and I finally wanted to try this place out. When we go out to eat at a nice restaurant, we expect to have an overall great experience.

Our server, Fermin, did not seem to share that same sentiment. He didn’t bother to share the entirety of the night’s specials with us. We overheard the server telling specials to the table next to us that sounded great but we weren’t told about them.

He also did not tell us what menu items were no longer available which is a big problem because it left my husband severely disappointed as he was looking forward to the only two entrees that the kitchen was out of. Wouldn’t you think to tell us this in the beginning? Not after we order which is what happened. It left a sour taste in our mouths.

He ordered the lasagna special which we were originally told that they ran out of but magically the kitchen found two more pieces according to our server. The table next to us ordered one which came out before ours. It’s looked delicious so my husband expected to get the same. He did not. It looked like the leftover scraps were thrown together. It was not the one large piece that we saw given to the table next to us. It was not presented well.

Our server checked on us once throughout our visit. Two seconds after we got our meals. He seemed frantic the entire time. Didn’t take any initiative to connect with us at all.

We felt rushed. We also felt forgotten. He forgot our order as soon as he took it. We asked for extra bread which he also forgot about and then lied about it. A sweet service oriented busboy provided better service and was way more attentive.

I think if we had any other server, I think our overall experience would have been much better. The food was delicious but there is nothing that ruins good food more than poor service. It was unfortunate to watch other tables receive quality service.

We were just so disappointed. We are locals and we have been looking for a goto restaurant for celebrations and we were hoping that Moscato would be it.

Service can go such a long way. We were not met with any sort of hospitality. It feels like we wasted our time and money.

Pistachio cheesecake was to die for though. I’d like entire cake to my face for sure.

We would maybe try it again, but not with...

So my wife called on Friday 11:30 AM to make reservations for Saturday reservations were confirmed with a gentleman on the phone we requested 1 PM and he stated the only thing they had available was 12:30 PM. We showed up on time and was told that they did not have a reservation for us even though my wife had to spell out her first and last name. I asked to speak to the manager the manager came up as well as a gentleman with a pompadour hairdo. The reason why I described the hairdo is because I do not know the gentleman‘s name he stood in the background and I explain to the manager and also showed him the call history on my wife’s cell phone he said they do not have the reservation but then pointed out the gentleman with a pompadour hairdo and said must’ve been him to took it. The manager told me that they could seat us outside, keep in mind the temperature in Campverde today is 105° they do not have a misting system, I looked at him and said you have to be kidding me it’s over 100° outside. I then told him that we would leave and we would not be eating there but that I was going to leave a bad review he said that was fine and then he thanked me which I felt was condescending. I told him that they are ridiculous and that we drove an hour and a half from Phoenix for lunch. It should be noted that I have eaten here numerous times and recommended this place to friends and family that will not ever be happening again we typically spend a couple hundred dollars on wine as they do have a very nice wine list. The gentleman with the pompadour hairdo then shut the inner door of the waiting area on me and waved his hand and said goodbye. I am a firm believer that a place can have outstanding food and poor service and they will fail but a place that has mediocre food and great service will succeed.... unfortunately this place now falls as one that has good food and horrible service the owner should take note. I wish you good luck opening in your new location across the street and if you do have success I will not be a part of it and would highly recommend that you look at ridding yourself of the cancer(Bad Service) in your establishment. * After reading previous reviews looks like the owner will only respond to a 5 star reviews and...

We did not have reservations and arrived about 4:45 on a Tuesday in October. We were greeted quickly and taken to a table inside (there is some outdoor seating too). The waiter informed us he needed about 10 minutes (which ended up being more like 5) before he could begin table service. Elegant décor inside a restored building. Some of the padded chairs sagged a bit in the middle. I actually swapped mine with one from another table because I felt like I was sinking (all 105 lbs of me!). The waiter was very knowledgeable about menu items and especially the extensive wine list. He said that the owner insists that the servers try every wine. THAT is an excellent idea! Good timing on delivery of food and clearing of dirty dishes. The presentation of the food was intentional from the type of serving dish to the arrangement of the food. It looked fantastic even before you put a bite in your mouth. I opted for a caesar salad for an appetizer, and ate every morsel – even the anchovy placed on top! For entrees, we chose the Al Burro with added homemade Italian sausage, and the Pollo Alla Sorrentino. We really weren’t expecting anything great about the Al Burro. We were wrong. We are not especially risotto fans but this may have converted us. It was creamy and cheesy and cooked perfectly. The grilled artichokes on top were perfect (as was the sausage). The Pollo Alla Sorrentino was just plain fun to eat with all the different tastes and textures. There was a melt-in-your-mouth chicken breast topped with fried eggplant, proscuitto, provolone, a half boiled egg, and shrimp over the lightest homemade fettucine. And some of those darn delicious grilled artichokes. Everything we ate was so fresh and tasty! We enjoyed the dinner with a luscious bottle of Italian wine. There are a couple of suggestions to offer. We had to ask for water but once we did the glass was never empty. I was really looking forward to some crusty Italian bread with and oil/vinegar dipping sauce. Also, when the plates were served we were not offered fresh parmesan or fresh salt and pepper. All in all, a wonderful dining experience, and very deserving of all the high ratings.

Got into town at seven or so and by the time we were ready to eat, it was closer to eight, but not quite. The (cough) concierge told us that there were a number of places open on Main street, but this just wasn't true, and we were on foot, too tired, and it was too cold to spend a lot of time doing reconnaissance, but the town was shut down. A small Mexican restaurant winked down a side street. The only place that was open on Main was Moscato's, and as we peered through the front windows like peasants in a Russian novel, I was astonished at the high tone and decoration of the place. It appeared out of place in this self-consciously rustic town, the restaurant had stumbled in here on its way to Scottsdale or Palm Springs. And we looked like crusty prospectors. But the staff was incredibly welcoming, and at our table we were flanked by a large vacationing aristocratic family from Mexico City on the one side and a foursome from Sedona on the other, who had driven down specifically for dinner at Moscato's. And what a meal we had! Excellent service, and the Sicilian style Italian with the freshly made sausage, a real Caesar salad (anchovies and all), and amazing pasta... this place was outstanding. When looking at the menu I thought it would be ridiculous to pay these kind of prices, but when I'd finished, it seemed not only reasonable but a great deal for the quality meal we had. A true find.

Once in a while you find a place that stands out above all the rest. This is that place. We went for lunch on our way through town and are extremely happy we stopped. The restaurant is so beautiful with the chandeliers and tables covered in white linens along with a fresh rose at each table floating in water. The restaurant definitely feels like you need to be dressed up, however there were many people in there dining that were dressed casual, including ourselves. Immediately the smell of authentic Italian food cooking hits your nose and makes your palate excited to taste what's on the menu. We didn't have to wait long for a table and were greeted with two waiters, both extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We had the Fettuccine alla Panna and the Fettuccine PPP. Both were delicious and the flavor of the signature cream sauce on the noodles was one of the best we have ever had. Unfortunately the tiramasu wasn't ready yet so we didn't get to try that but we will have to come back another time. Prices were reasonable and the wine list was extensive, probably one of the best we have seen in a long time. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stop here for lunch or dinner. You will not regret it. We definitely will be back!
