We are always anxious to try out new restaurants in the Verde Valley. I'm kind of a foodie and music lover, so if I see a "sauce' on anything and a live band, I am all in. And I do understand about a new opening and ironing out the kinks. That being said, here are some constructive comments for continued success at The Bullpen. We arrived at 515pm on St Patrick's Day. Guinness Corned Beef and Cabbage was advertised on line and the lighted board sign inside was up. As we sat down and ordered, not before, we were told they were OUT of corned beef!!! The band was great but a half hr late. We ordered our second choice Beef Short Rib with Demi Glaze, mashed potatoes, and tricolor carrots. Rib was great, too little glaze for rib plus potatoes ( a tiny bit too lumpy for me) and the baby carrots were too few and not tricolor but fresh and delicious. The serving plate was very big and a nice one, but there needed to be more carrots and glaze and maybe a bit of parsley sprinkles for color and proportion and taste. They said they did not have bread because it was really " just a bar." Brownie /Gelato dessert was yummy. I had to put 5 creamers in coffee and it barely changed the color, but must have been just strong good coffee because it tasted ok afterwards, not burned. Wait staff was very personable. It was the blackened Cajun salmon with garlic mashed potatoes. And my husband had the blackened New York strip with Cajun butter and garlic mashed potatoes. The food was absolutely amazing. I was pleasantly surprised on how good the food was prepared .. we were greeted by the hostess as soon as we entered the restaurant and she seated us. Our server met us at the table to take our drink order. Our server was Will . He was a very good server. I’ve been in the food and beverage industry for 35 years . It was so nice to have a server that was so attentive to all of our needs. Although we did not have many, because he was on top of everything. I introduced myself to the manager, Nicole she was very friendly as well. We were fortunate enough to be able to meet the owner Andy. He came over to our table and introduced himself and to check on the quality of the food and the service. I give my five star review on this new ownership for this restaurant.
