Wingfield Bread Company — Restaurant in Camp Verde

If I could give this restaurant ZERO stars I would. It wasn't because of the food, it was because of the lack of service. My wife and I walked in there between 10:35 am - 10:45 am today 7/23/24, the young lady behind the counter was talking to an old scruffy Yosemite Sam looking guy, she glanced at us then continued talking with 'Sam', she didn't say "I'll be right with you", "How can I help you" or even "can you wait a minute", NOTHING. We were the only couple waiting to be seated, and I'm 6'2" 205 lbs so, it's not like she didn't see us.

I understand that in rural white America there is a certain amount of ignorance and prejudice, I've been Black in America for a long time so, I understand what's going on but, this was ridiculous. We stood there patiently to see if she would say anything, after about 5 minutes of being ignored and treated like the invisible couple, we decided to leave. So, the moral of the story is, unless you're white or damn near white, you may want to find another place...

It took 30 minutes for us to get a sandwich and salad. There was only one girl working and instead making the orders she took, she would stop making the food and go to the register everytime someone came in. Someone also decided to tell their life story and do a custom dessert order. Instead of telling the lady “I’ll be with you once I’m done with these orders” she talked to the lady for 10 minutes making us all wait. When we finally got our food nothing that we asked to not be on it had been removed so then had to have her redo. The bread fell apart immediately after taking a bite so all the sandwich was falling out as I ate. They also have you tip on your order but they don’t do anything to serve you. OMG! I LOVE THIS PLACE! I got there just before closing hoping to get something to knosh on for dinner. I'm staying at an airbnb nearby. I bought a scone, muffin and giant square of foccacia bread. After deciding on bread for dinner, I noticed they sell sandwiches and salads and stuff. I'll just have to try those next time. The foccacia was the best I've tasted in a long time. Everyone does it slightly different. This woman's bread tastes like I already dipped it in really good olive oil and herbs but it isn't oily. It's just delicious and hearty and now I wish I had soup. Hmm, wonder if she sells that too? 🤔 Anyway, the scone and muffin taste delightful but I'll have to save most of them...
