DON’T BUY OR ASK FOR BUTTER ON YOUR PASTRY!!!
My husband and I have been coming to Thanks a Latte for over 12 years. We’ve always loved the staff, the food and the coffee. Even after moving to Cottonwood, we still come to Camp Verde just for Thanks a Latte. Yesterday we came over to have a pastry and coffee to start our day. We asked for our pastries to be warmed and also PAID for melted butter on both. When we picked them up from the counter, they did not look buttered. We asked the man behind the counter and he glanced at them said the butter had “probably soaked in”. At the table we looked and the only “butter” was a greasy thumb smear…NO BUTTER. I went again to the counter to ask about getting the butter we had PAID for and was told by the cashier gal that it would be an additional charge. FOR THE BUTTER WE ALREADY PAID FOR AND DID NOT RECEIVE?!?!
After sitting down (no butter still) I decided to try 1 more time to get the butter. While I was trying to discuss the matter with the man and the cashier, another woman entered the conversation. Without even being in ANY conversation with me yet, she told me to be quiet and stop talking so she could talk to me. WOW… (Still, none of the employees have actually LOOKED at our pastries to see the lack of butter!) Typically, customer service allows for the customer to express the problem to the staff or management. She did not have any idea what was going on and what my frustration was. None of the staff identified themselves as managers. None of the staff actually attempted to exercise customer service in this instance. They were too busy to acknowledge, care about or remedy THEIR mistake.
I left the store after being treated rudely and without indication of problem resolution or responsibility on their part. They finally brought out my pastry to my husband after I went to the car (with an OVER-THE-TOP amount of butter that spilled out of the box). Most of the staff were ones we had not seen before and hope never to again.
I realize this is over only $1.50 butter, but….really…is it too much to ask to receive what I pay for regardless of the price I paid? We have NEVER been treated this way at Thanks A Latte. Usually the staff is great, but sometimes 1 experience can make a huge difference and this was the experience.

I want to talk about their veggie burrito first. I have had a lot of veggie burritos over the years, and I have a love/hate relationship with them. Love that veggie burritos are a thing, hate that they seem like they are typically thrown together with leftover ingredients for non-meatatarians, and they just don't usually taste very good.
This was hands-down the BEST veggie burrito I've ever had. I am usually the queen of altering a menu item. My gut told me not to this time around, and I was not disappointed. The potatoes and veggies were cooked to perfection, nothing was overpowering. Like... the potatoes didn't overwhelm or disappear. If you know, you know. Potatoes can often take over a veggie burrito which is cool because potatoes are yummy, but then why not just call it a potaturrito?
Anyway... Thanks A Latte's veggie burrito was perfection. Their hot sauce actually had some kick. I'm so please. I wish I lived closer, I'd come back at least once a week for my burrito fix.
Next: Their Mexican Mocha was a TREAT. The spices in this drink are forward and surprised me. Most mexican mochas have a little bit of that cafe de olla "echo", but this was front and center and I loved it.
The service, too, was just lovely. They actually checked on me while I worked on my laptop... and I felt so good being here I went ahead and wrote my review before I even finished the second half of my burrito.
As of today they have dairy-free options for drinks and gluten-free options for sandwiches. They also have a couple of gluten free baked goods in...
Read moreThanks A Latte is a family owned business . When you walk in, you are greeted with a wonderful smile and asked how your day is going. This is such a breath of fresh air compared to many locations these days. The menu is amazing and covers many breakfast and lunch options. One of the best parts is that it isn’t such a large menu that you have issues on what you really want. The food is always warm and inviting as each dish has color and a splash of new and fresh. The design and taste is spot on !!! When you look around the location you can either be inside or outside for options. The outside may be near a main road but you would never tell. They have updated tables and chairs with beautiful lattice wrapped around the area. The lattice has beautiful growing plant vines that wrap around the area and small plant gardens that have spices growing for color and smells. The inside,if you want, has updated seating that is by the window for sunshine or in more to enjoy inviting tables to sit and relax. While inside you can see the personal working like happy busy bees in an invigorating atmosphere. You can always hear them speaking to customers by first name and knowing what they may want as if they knew them for many years …. And they actually may :) One of the best parts of leaving this establishment is the simple pastry window that holds beautifully home made pastry’s. They are beautiful in design and their flavor is like sitting in an another country with a well known baker. If you want to go to a location in Camp Verde … I would 100 % suggest trying a new and exciting location like Thanks A Latte … you will walk in Hungary and Happy and walk out full and Excited for your next...
