I NEVER give a bad review but the service was the worst I’ve experienced in a really long time. Our waitress let us know as soon as we sat down that they were short staffed and a large party was placing an order ahead of us, no problem. We asked for sugar with our coffee and it took her a while so we were able to ask a busser for some. He bought 3 packets. We needed two more. When I asked my waitress for sugar, she said “Oh, I thought you had some.” She proceeded to pick the used packets off the table and mentioned that we had three. I let her know we needed more. The larger party left and another group of 4 sat across from us. It had already been 20min since taking our order. For context, there were only 2 of us dining. My French toast was brought out (I ordered French toast, bacon, coffee and the shooters). I was waiting for my friends food to come out which it didn’t so I split my French toast with her. We finish the shooters and look for our waitress to order another drink. She doesn’t stop back by. The table who sat down AFTER us received their ENTIRE meal. As the waitstaff walks away, I ask him can he tell me how long our steak and eggs (my friends meal) would be AND my bacon. He says about 10mins. Our waitress comes over and says let me check on it. Miraculously, it was coming out as she went to go check. The entire plate of food was lukewarm. She brought my bacon at the same time. At this point I am really upset BUT, trying to keep in mind she had a large party earlier (the place was not crowded at all), I thought I’ll leave it alone.
So, during our wait I decide to walk up to the bar and order drinks. I kid you not, I walk up, the bartender looks me dead in my face, looks at the money in my hand and walks away. He goes to load some dishes so I’m thinking ok, he’ll help me once he’s done. He walks PAST me, and helps 3 young ladies with food and drink orders. After he takes their order, I ask him can he help me. He lets me know he just started work so give him a second. He goes down to the end of the bar and asks another bartender to help me.
She comes over takes my order, lets me know she was waiting to get change etc. The drinks were great. Our drinks were $37 so I leave her a $20 tip. I truly appreciated the service.
I’m feeling better, I sit back down and we are just hanging out. Our waitress asked us were we ready to check out and we were. She brings our bill and it’s $160ish. O glance at it and notice there were 4-5 items that were not ours. I let her know that she handed us the wrong bill. She looks and says oh the breakfast burrito isn’t yours. I’m no ma’am, the 2 or everything else is not ours either. She looks again and lets us know she will bring the correct one. She comes back and there are still 2 additional items that are not ours. Instead of giving us a new bill, she pulls out her calculator, asks us what we had and then told us the total.
I double check the amount and paid once I came up with the same total which was $93. We split the bill AND I still left her a tip because I do know that people depend on that money.
The moral of my review is the service is absolutely horrendous but the food is good. The service was so bad that I have a hard time chopping it up to maybe it was a bad day for her, which I usually never give up on a place.
The service seemed very dismissive and borderline line racist, which is a harsh statement for me to make.
Shout out to Alex(is) at the bar. Not because her drinks were good but because she had great...
Read moreThis place thinks it’s a club. No one told the people running it that it had been turned into a restaurant. So the music was club music and close to the same volume. I JUST LOVE SCREAMING TO SERVING STAFF AND NOT BEING ABLE TO HEAR MYSELF THINK OR TALK NORMALLY TO OTHERS CLOSE TO ME.
I don’t know where they got the barstools for the place, but they’re at least a foot too short to be useful at the actual bar. They were having what seemed to be an owner’s relative’s birthday party about to go down, and they just happen to have a new “food tower” that they hired a pro photographer for, who was also there in the chaos.
I was there during happy hour so ordered from the HH menu. Garlic noodles and a half dozen fresh oysters. The oysters were nicely cold and the mignonette delicious…good start.
The garlic noodles arrived and were absolute mush - ok, I don’t care if it is HH and those $0.09 worth of noodles are 20% off, lots of people test new places during HH, so why ruin a first impression?? The garlic noodles also came with a new person….who hung around after they were served. I asked if he needed something. He said no, he was a brand new employee. I congratulated him and asked what his role was. He said he didn’t know yet….and just stayed there staring at me. I mentioned that I was quite sure his role wasn’t to stand and watch guests eat their food. He smiled, but still didn’t leave….someone who was paying attention to the party walked by and told him: MOVE ALONG.
It took 4 tries to get anyone else’s attention about the noodle mush, so when I finally got it, I said: THESE NOODLES ARE MUSH PLEASE TAKE THEM OFF MY BILL AND GIVE ME A FINAL CHECK!!!! THANK YOU!!!
I also asked them to turn down the club music so they could hear me….and others who came in to eat and not for a club…but they all insisted they didn’t know how/where to do that. Also wished I could have paid with my phone and left, but nooooo, had to get someone’s attention again to make it happen so I could leave.
I don’t know what kind of restaurant they’re supposed to be. The word ‘Peruvian’ appears a lot on the menu, very closely followed by aji amarillo leche de tigre. Granted, I haven’t spent a lot of time with the culture or food, but I’m pretty sure dumping Tigre on whatever they’ve cooked up doesn’t really make...
Read moreAny chance to get dressed up, yes please!! Although I dont think there is a dress code from the looks of the many people that were there on a Friday night. We made reservations for a Friday night at 6pm, they open at 5pm. There is street parking as well as parking in the garage, so parking is super easy. I arrived first and the first thing I noticed was that there was an overwhelming smell of fish/seafood. I had taken a look at the menu prior to arriving and I saw that the menu had a lot of seafood but walking into that smell was not what I would have liked. I have been to many places who specialize in seafood and have not been hit with the smell at the front door. We were seated and given menus, water was brought almost immediately. Our server was amazing! I wish I would have gotten her name so I could give her a shout out. Cocktails were yummy and when asked for a recommendation our server spoke from personal experience which I appreciate. We ordered the steak & frits, calamari and the sliders. The steak was excellent cooked exactly the way we requested although it was kind of on the thin side. The sliders on the other hand were amazing, I would recommend these as they were packed with flavor. I didnt eat the calamari but my friend said it was good and he would order again. As the night progressed there were people having birthday parties, dates and just out having a good time. While we sat in the dinning area the bar portion looked to be really busy and they had tv's with sports on them. Im embarrassed to say we were there for 4 hours and not one time did we ever feel pressured to leave or wrap it up. I would go back and try some other menu items and cocktails. It does get loud in there so if that isnt your vibe then try some place else. It is a very diverse group so that is refreshing considering...
