I was hoping after the first few days, something positive with changing this place that my whole stay was a mess. I was booked to stay here about 2 weeks and call days ahead of time to explain I would be staying there for work and a quiet, out-of-the-way room would be ideal.
This hotel basically does the absolute bare minimum to add amenities.
When I get to check in, my room isn't ready and I was advised the person still cleaning my room spoke no English at all so they would not be able to give me a time estimate on when it would be complete. I read it a little bit less than an hour until the room was ready and again explained I would be there for work so I was hoping the room would be something quiet and also asked for a cart and told the hotel employee that I had rather large equipment that had to be brought in. I loaded everything up and when I walked into the room the first thing I noted was the lack of furniture. There is no desk, just a couple small stands, and no dresser. I had explained multiple times I was there for a couple weeks, I have two weeks of work and personal clothing and a ton of equipment.
I'm going back to the front desk and they put me in a second room which had a small desk that was otherwise the same. There was dirt all over the floor, the stove didn't work, and the entire room smelled like something had been very badly burnt during the previous day. they sent someone to look at the appliances and advised the microwave would not be usable and would have to be changed out completely the next day and they fixed the stove the same day to the extent that it technically worked, but the very old coils were angled upwards so anything I said on top of them ended up spilling. By the next morning, I went to retrieve my hair dryer from under the sink and noticed it and all of my bathroom appliances, we're completely soaked. I had to again go to the front desk and tell them there is now a water leak. They switched my room yet again while I was at work that day and this room had an actual dresser and large desk, making me wonder why it wasn't put in this room to begin with. For the price we were paying per day, which I believe was $259 per night, what I was getting was absolutely ridiculous.
I stayed in that room and go to the same issue with the stove, all of the coils angle upwards so anything you sit on top of them ends up at an angle. It also seems very, very unsafe. All of the coils jiggle around very loosely in place. then I also noted that instead of charging the card that was put forth for the room, they actually charge my personal credit card for the price of the room. I believe the name of the individual was Dominique, and she advised she released the funds that day. 3 days later I received an alert on my card for potential fraudulent charges and American Express explain to me that nobody had contacted them to release anything. Another two days went by before someone from the front desk finally released the charges.
Overall, the place is very old, the morning breakfast is absolutely disgusting, and they allow smoking and drinking on site. It's all fun and games if I'm at a bachelorette party or something, but I reported a lady who was stalking around in between people's cars and hiding, I thought she was eventually trying to break into one of them, and it turns out she was trying to hide her drug use and open alcohol container. Lisa Andrade, the manager was notified, and she said it was okay because that person was a guest at the hotel. No one even spoke to the lady.
Overall, I would never stay here again. See pictures for burned carpets,...
Read moreThe rooms were fine, but my biggest complaint here was the staff. They just weren’t friendly, accommodating or service oriented. As a Marriott lifetime platinum member I have never stayed at a hotel which was so dismissive of the status I’ve spent years working to earn.
When I was checking in, there was a guest ahead of me who was older and having trouble logging into the internet. The kind thing to do would have been to help the guest to logon - instead she just rattled off the things the woman should do and rolled her eyes when the woman walked away forgetting the bath wash she had gotten for her.
I had a few other interactions with the front desk and none were remarkable. The one which led to this review was the hotels’s refusal to honor Marriotts “guaranteed 4pm late checkout” for platinum guests. First the front desk colleague told me that it only applied to guests of a higher status. I said that’s not what the Marriott website says. She then said, well it’s subject to availability and we are sold out. I then said no you aren’t I can book at least 3 rooms on Marriott.com right now. She finally agreed to give me a 2 pm checkout as a special accommodation but couldn’t honor the “guaranteed 4pm checkout.”
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel for elite Marriott members, there are other far more accommodating Marriott hotels that will take better...
Read more3:00 check in. arrived at 3:30 after traveling 8hrs in a car to bring our daughter up to UCSC. Our two year old was with a cold and due for a nap. Come to find out our room wasn't ready. We asked if we could be put up into another room not worrying if it matched what we booked until our room was ready since they weren't ready to accommodate us s guests yet, so our toddler could taker her nap. We were told no. Followed with if we didn't like it we could leave and go somewhere else! I almost couldn't believe what I heard from the supervisor Jillian working the front desk. I asked for the GM and of course she had just left. To took another 45 minutes for them to get the room ready while we waited in the lobby. It was apparent we are not important. Besides the extremely poor customer service from the front desk it was a lack of compassion. We would not recommend if your a family they are not accommodating and made you feel like the were put out due to their employee issues that became the trickle effect of a late check in process. Rooms were tidy but worn. There are so many Marriott hotels that deliver BETTER service and have a nicer feel to them overall. Would...
